At least he didnt get stuck part way so easier to recover it. But at that height, not even sure most rigids would get through. Be interesting to know if the cab made it as mentioned. Are most euro trailers still 4.0m?
Yes.
Also worth pointing out it will be like a Euroliner that can be stripped down so is arguably that bit weaker than a normal curtaibsiser as it has more joints/connections etc
It’s a fridge aint it■■?
■■■■ yeah so it is in thst case great effort from the law
I do feel for him though, being alone in a foreign country when everything goes wrong isnt fun.
I wonder what happened to him as I’m sure his cab would also be wrecked, he’s very likely to be sacked so I wonder what his boss done about putting him up for the night and getting him home ?

I bet Eddie stobart was round there giving him a job
I know that road well, it’s off Homerton High St. Some bridges are marked more obviously than others and that one is absolutely covered in massive chevrons and warnings.
It was hit a while ago by a rigid fridge, took the body clean off it and left it a chassis-cab!

Does his boss have to do anything? Technically he could sack him on the spot. How the driver gets home isnt his bosses problem.

Normally I’d say…
It’s never wise to sack a man down the road because he could possibly do untold damage to the vehicle, sell it, park it somewhere and not tell you where it is. On this occaision it doesn’t really matter seeing as the whole thing has already been destroyed.
As an aside, the driver standing on the deck in the photo isn’t wearinga hi-viz vest and is running the risk of getting a bollocking for not have a fall restraint system on the trailer now.

That’s one way of getting his 20 odd deliveries off in one go I suppose.

i know theres yellow chevrons on the low part, but painting the background black seems like a really good accident prevention idea to me?
Ideally, like others,it needs gantries with heavy chains put on the approach in both directions. Also doesn’t seem to be any advanced warning signs at the Wick Road junction.

I’ve done lots of work around there. Believe me, I know it. When you’re standing outside a flat that isn’t ready for habitation because you’re waiting for a bit of paper to certify it is, and the junkie new occupier is screaming at you to let her and her enriched children into “the ■■■■■■ place that we’re entitled to you c***”, you tend to focus on something else that will distract you.
That bridge made me want to be back behind the wheel
