Oops! Saw some poor sod wedged under a 103" railway bridge at Pound Hill nr bacton Just off A140 s/bound, bout 6mls outside stowmarket. Didn
t get the chance to see what vehicle was - apparently was hit by another car but no-one hurt thankfully. this was about 1.30pm but was dragged out a couple of hours later. Just wondered if anyone knows the driver as it`s a small world!
Here you go
Superfast response dude!! Minor scrape, but I always feel a pang of sympathy when it happens.
He would have got that horrible feeling of “omfg surly this isn’t happening, I hope it’s a dream! I want the ground to swallow me up NOW”
Would that be Suffolk not Cambridgeshire?

Bloody hell that was quick…was it you■■?
Nightfreight, or DX as it is now, probably Ipswich depot. I’ve worked there for agency a few times in the run up to Christmas last year, never again and refused to go back. There’s multidrop and then there’s Nightfreight…

Yep - I feel suitably f***witted. Actually nearer to Norfolk border as well I think. Must`ve had a James May moment.
Well spotted mate!!

That’s an old crash isn’t it? Pics just look familiar?
YOU WOULD HAVE TO BLIND TO NOT NOTICE HOW LOW THAT ELY BRIDGE IS WITH THE ROAD MARKINGS AND SIGNS!!
How does that happen? There’s no real excuse for hitting a low bridge in any circumstances, but hitting one no higher than half way up the windscreen is really going some.
It makes you think who is the idiot behind the wheel, to not know a height of a vehicle, against a bridge which is clearly marked, should be given a kick up the backside, but on saying that, how many drivers really know the height of their vehicles/trailers, I have personally never seen a driver measuring, which begs me to ask the question, do drivers take for granted the height devices in the cab for granted ( which I believe to be law ) or is it guess work. Me personally have never measured the height of a vehicle I have been responsible for, but merely guessed, and obviously hung out of the window if I thought it was a bit near the mark. When I used to run empty to Pavia ( Italy ) for shoes, and used to transit Swiss, on the way back the customs would always measure the height, and length of a vehicle suspected of being over height/length, especially the English with drawbars ( like I had ) because shoes were paid buy how many you could get on board, so we used to close the drawbar up close ( cos it was a long trailer and we wanted to be inside the length limit ) and we could also raise the roof if we wanted ) but back to the post, that was the only place I knew that would measure us, although I did set the alarm off at the Blackwall once, when the wind lifted the canvas roof on a tilt, but they were waiting at the other end with a measuring stick set at 4m, which puzzled them as to why the alarm went off.
Absolutely truckyboy.
But wouldnt most of us have a rough idea,3.8m,4.0m etc,and if need be,stick the noggin out the window. Half way up the windscreen,I
ve formed an immovable opinion of that driver. And it ain`t complimentary.
Ipswich depot of Nightfreight has been closed, the work has been split between Norwich, Cambridge and Basildon (maybe).

Even worse is the fact that there are flashing warning signs on the approach to that bridge if you are over the 2.7m (9’ 00") limit, plus a road over the bridge via a railway crossing if you need it. Still gets hit often though
At least the load was secure, aye Mr VOSA man?
