Evil8Beezle:
Rumours of his demise are greatly exaggerated !
Brian Matthews is still alive as well. He’s not well but he is alive.
Is Steve Wright dead then?
He aint dead, he’s tipping at Amazon Dunfermline.
I can’t stand Brian Matthew. Sleep inducing.
I suppose this wont be allowed either because I don’t like him or his sounds of the 1860s?
Who is Brian Matthew? Some code word for dozy

The old ■■■■ who they dig up every Saturday morning to do sounds of the '60s.
Always reminds me of the Harry Enfield character “Mr Dead” the talking corpse.
A dapper and urbane gentleman who has added greatly to broadcasting, true a lot of sixties music was garbage-eg,Adam faith,Helen Shapiro etc,but he regularly unearthed some forgotten jewels over the years and considering his pathetic replacement,Blackburn ffs,his warm dignified style will be remembered for decades.

Touche Sir! Brian is also old, because he was ‘there’ at the time in the 60’s when it was happening

zackly man and he [hopefully not gone yet] exemplifies the type of egoless broadcasting the station was famed for directly in proportion to the excreble assault of the ‘new’ arrivals currently taking the station to the depths of hideoussness in which it now languishes, oleery, ball.goodier,FERN ■■■■ COTTON ffs.good enough apparently to dep for Ken Bruce…? This will be a Purnell nod through i suspect, new drone at bbc radio. If everyone agreed to abandon the bbc en masse,we would be making a massive stand imho.Who needs it?..theres box sets galore for the laptops, ipods for music.Join the revolt, ditch the bbc propoganda machine.
Brian sadly passed away today. What some folk don’t realise is that broadcasters like Brian, Alan Freeman and Keith Fordyce etc were instrumental in getting ‘pop music’ played on the BBC. Before then it was consigned to Radio Luxemburg and Pirate Radio, Brian was also a walking encyclopedia on pop and rock music and as well as playing it he also provided information about the artist, recording technique, producer, backing singers etc which other presenters simply ignored. Very sad that he has gone but he had a good long life and will be missed. Actually, love him or loathe him, Tony Blackburn is probably Brians natural successor as he was in it from the beginning (playing the first disc on Radio One in 1967) and has a very broad knowledge of pop/rock from the sixties.
RIP Brian, and thank’s.
Pete.
