Do Brexiteers support Russia in Ukraine as a thank you for funding the Brexit Campaign.
Or do they support the EU in opposing the Russian invasion of Ukraine ■■?
No to the first and yes to the second I support all those who oppose the invasion European or otherwise bit of a bone question really. Being out of the EU has not moved the UK out of Europe since 2015 the UK has sent 1,300 troops to the Ukraine to help train Ukrainian military personnel more than any EU country. Should the UK support the EU in any course of action it takes yes in the same way it supports American action a united front is required Putin is an expert at exploiting weakness which is why we are where we are now continued appeasement has enboldened him to think he can do as he pleases
Thanks Mazzer, good to know there are still some we can have an adult debate with even if we come from different sides of the argument

Now that’s just ignorant and petulant [emoji1787]
I gave you a reasoned and reasonable answer. It had the added boon of highlighting the illogicaliry of asking for a yes or no answer in the circumstances.
You aren’t the sharpest knife in the block, sre you?
whisperingsmith:
Not quite Brexit, but one of the benefits of our current Tory Govt is their sponsorship from Russian Oligarchs.
So whilst the EU is likely spooked by Russia in Ukraine, we in the UK are lucky that thanks to Brexit and our Russian friends supporting our Govt. and funding the Brexit campaign we should be safe.
The EU spooked? only because it’s largest economy is now going to face an energy crisis.
Did you hear Corbyn in the commons those nasty Russians would all retreat if only NATO stopped being so aggressive Yep things would be so much better if he had won
Great strategy: talk about an ex-leader of an out of power party.
If you can only talk about an ex-leader you are even less relevant than he is!
Why not talk about the party that holds the levers?
“We will slap wrists of a few small banks and minor players today”…"and if you dont behave we will do more later" (So, youve got a while to get prepared and make plans now)
So how much better is that than your favourite boogeyman?
Are the EU going to suffer? Yep, sure they are.
Nord Stream is on hold, and who knows for how long? Energy prices will rise in the EU and worldwide.
So what? Its crap, and its crap for everyone except Putin himself.
If the EU wasn`t spooked they would be mad.
It would appear that Corbyn is also Starmer’s bogeyman as you put it, you failed to realise that Corbyn still has a lot of support for his ideas amongst Labour Party members and the Unions remember a few weeks back when some unions were threatening to withdraw funding because of the direction Labour was going in. msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/ke … d=msedgntp
Also Starmer’s threat to remove the whip from the 14 Labour MP’s for their comments about NATO 14 MP’s out of 198 Labour MP’s in not a significant number yet those 14 have a lot of support from younger party members hence Starmer’s response, msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/l … d=msedgntp
Have the UK’s sanctions gone far enough and quick enough for you now? The UK parliament seems to think so as they are all in agreement, shame the German, Italian, Austrian and Hungarian ones don’t think the same. msn.com/en-gb/news/world/uk … d=msedgntp
Stick to links Franglais at least when you are copying and pasting someone elses work there is a degree of accuracy in it

Thanks.
Starmer is not Corbyn.
Corbyn has been expelled from Labour.
Those others in Labour who are not in line with a reasonable attitude to NATO are under pressure to change.
Yep, your bogeyman isnt part of the mainstream party. . Compare and contrast with the Tories. A small group of MPs are off to one wing? Are they told to moderate? No, Johnson listens to them more than the bulk of traditional Tories. The everyday Tory will always vote Tory so they arent listened to.
The ERG is the tail wagging the Big Dog.
.
Happily Johnson and the EU are both stepping sanctions up a bit, so good for them both.
All in agreement? Dunno.
Starmer is supporting sanctions, but is that the same as saying it is the correct level?

Given the fact that the invasion started years ago, and has been dramatically escalated in the past couple of weeks, surely the whole world has been caught unnecessarily flat-footed?
.
The UK immigration MInister`s response that refugees can apply for work permits to pick fruit was stupid, and has been rightly wiped away. But what does it say that it was made in the first place?

As per usual just a load of whataboutary from you, relavance of the ERG to this debate? The ERG’s power could have been nullified had Labour supported Theresa May’s Brexit bill
The whole world has not been caught flat footed it has purposely turned a blind eye to Putin there is a difference. Putin has pushed bit by bit for years and each time the west has either huffed and puffed for a few months or done nothing this started long before Putin’s aspirations for Ukraine and the west and in particular the EU as one of his biggest trading partners did nothing and that includes the UK which was a part of the EU for the majority of Putin’s time in power so ergo criticism of the EU is crticism of the UK.
News for you Franglais not everyone who supports Brexit is rabid right winger not everyone who supports Brexit supports Johnson or the Conservative party they are currently in power due to saying that they would get on with Brexit as said before you appear to have no understanding of why people voted for Brexit which means that it is easier for you to stereotype anyone who supports Brexit as Johnson and Tory party supporters even those of us who cannot vote for them or would rather that Johnson had not come to power but given the option at the last election people felt there was very little choice.

“THOUGHT OF THE DAY.
When asked why Brexiteers voted LEAVE in the E.U. referendum, the single word answer I have heard is “SOVEREIGNTY”.
If there is one observation from Ukraine that is more vivid than any other, it is the Ukrainian’s passionate sense of patriotism.
Yet today, despite this deep feeling of “Sovereignty” by the people of that independent nation, the Ukrainian president has appealed to join the E.U.
So, it would seem that “Sovereignty” is not incompatible with E.U. membership.”

Here’s another ‘THOUGHT OF THE DAY’
Whether or not your analogy with Ukraine and your analysis on it is true and accurate or not… who knows …in fact who tf cares
What do you hope to achieve??..
Maybe Boris saying to his cabinet…
‘Look guys,.I’ve been thinking, I’ve read what a load of random truck drivers are saying about Brexit,.and I’ve decided they are right,.I’m gonna be on the blower first thing in the morning, give the EU a bell,.and ask them if we can re.join,.and ■■■■■■■■ to the silent majority, let’s go with the very vocal remoaners’’
Nah don’t think so, maybe better to move on and deal with it eh?
Theres another ‘Thoiught of the day’ btw that you can have for free.
All this crap is getting soooooo ■■■■ boring now to the point of embarrasment.
whisperingsmith:
Or Rob:- Boris will get on the phone to his Russian Brexit donors and say -: ■■?
Brexit was the first Russian-funded salvo in this situation Europe & the world is facing - where do we go from here??
This is all of us both Leavers & Remainers - we will need to stand together in spite of recent differences.
Oh please don’t be dragging me into this where I have to debate it in a serious fashion ffs,.(I much rather prefer to dip into it from time to time and throw in a ‘‘■■■■■■■■■■ type grenade…as I do from time to time to wind up Franglais in his Covid thread. )
I don’t know if Brexit was all part of Putin’s plan, nor really care one way or the other tbh, but even if it is so…the end justifies the means in my book.
But if they were looking for an interference in the West that would work, surely an effort to to trick us into leaving NATO. would be more effective, not the ■■■■ EU.
You will undoubtedly come back with an argument on this point, but as it is purely a hypothesis based on a theory, (presumably one of your own) it would be quite pointless to debate it and/or argue about it.
With more & more evidence appearing of Russian funding of the Brexit campaign (and the Tories) to weaken Europe & the EU, it’s no surprise that our Gammonian friends have been silent for the last week.
To my mind, we need to rid Britain of the Russian funded Tories and find a way to have politicians that represent our interests rather than Putin & his mates.
