Here is IMHO a really interesting piece.

Now the FT isn’t a well know “left wing rag” nor is it a well known supporter of Brexit, but the angle this piece chooses to look from is interesting.
Didn’t we have a few posts earlier about the opportunities that Brexit would throw up?
So here is further evidence that those chances are being grabbed.
Hi Franglais.
Just a note.
If you manage to get access to an FT article, try to copy it all and post it here, as I know from experience that when I find an FT article, I can usually open it once (somehow it remembers the location the link was being opened from, I guess), and then if I close it, and try to open it again, it wouldn’t allow me to, asking to me to join and pay, which is reasonable, as that is how they earn their money, for the work they do.
I pressed on this link that you have provided, but wasn’t able to access it, as it asked me to join and pay.
I copied the title into google, and the only thing I could find was a discussion about this article in Reddit, which is also quite an interesting one to read.

Corbyn was in favour of a united Ireland. To say he supported acts of terror is just a lie.

Really?
How would you define standing to honour ALL those who died fighting FOR a united Ireland?
Would ALL not include cowardly scum killing civilians and off duty security forces?
Perhaps you have a different version of English in mind when you fail to see this as support?
Or his being arrested whilst demonstrating outside the trial of an IRA bomber?

I never met the IRA. I obviously did meet people from Sinn Fein,
And therein lies the issue, he supported the terrorists trying to change the law by terror. He said he condemns all bombings, and then condemns the British Army!

He condemns ALL violence whilst for several months pointedly refusing to specify the IRA.
He did something similar with the military and Remembrance day. He attempted to recover his standing by being photographed chatting to some veterans after one commemoration.
Funnily enough, you’ll never find a similar picture before or since this piece of cynical PR.
There’s a reason his face was used for target practise by the PARAS.
The attempt at moral equivalency between an organisation committed to terrorism and the murder it entails and security services, 99.99% of whom deployed to provide peace and security, tells you all you need to know about this man’s integrity, as it does for those who argue his case in this.

Noted.
Late at night now, but I’ll take a look later
Edit Sat a.m.
The article seems to be behind a pay wall for many. I wont cut and paste to break copyright and get TNUK in trouble. As a rough precis of the piece by Roger Shrimsley: He argues that equivalence for the City is not looking like a done deal. Brussels and UK relations are cold rather than warm. The Brexiteers previously accused the EU of being bullies and selfish, but now seem surprised if they seem bullies and selfish regards negotiations in current talks. London has lost some business to Amsterdam, but lost even more to New York. Why would the EU rush along if they are gaining money? Sam Lowe is quoted "The EU is on a land grab" "it is down to what is in the EU
s interest". UK ministers now say “very modest” and “look bad”, regarding the future.
The UK has already given concessions (Nov 2020) but have yet to see reciprocal offers.
He does point out that some losses are mostly symbolic, but that if all the symbolism points the same way, it aint good. We don
t have control we are waiting on an EU decision.
A senior Tory is quoted “infantile prioritisation of fish” over the Citys 10% of tax revenues. Kalifa, and Hill reviews due soon, and Solvency II is up up for review. Criticism is made of the previous refusal to take the 90 day worker deals offered, and now seeking another deal that sis unlikely to come. "Brussels
attitude may not be admirable, but it was entirely predictable" “this is the new normal”

Odds shorten on UK re-joining EU by 2026 as impact hits home
The London Economic reports that bookmaker Betfair has said the UK has a 5/1 chance of rejoining the EU by 2026 due to growing frustrations with Brexit.
The bookmaker claims: “It might fall to a new generation of politicians, in both main parties, to have the honest conversation about Brexit that’s so far failed to materialise.
“Getting that done in time for 2026 looks tight. But five years is a long time – think how much has happened in UK politics since 2016 – and the market on the UK rejoining is worth watching.”

I haven’t seen many poor Bookies
My bookie “Terry the bas***d” has also offered odds of 5/1 against of me being voted Britain’s sexiest Morris dancer. I’ll not be betting on it.

No… and that’s because the world is full of mugs who think a bookie offering a 5/1 punt on this is a sign from the political gods.
