Brexit Not The Fault Of Brexit:-

It is not just the German press that are revelling in some post-Brexit schadenfreude.

El Español says the “UK seems to have imploded”,

Adding: “It should be remembered that the British voted in favour of ‘Brexit’ in the belief that they would take control and become a stronger country if they managed to throw off the yoke of Europe.”
“Well, the exact opposite seems to be happening. And now that they are no longer under the protection of Brussels, they have no right or access to aid from the 27. If they want to overcome the crisis in which they are immersed, they will have to do it by themselves”.

‘The UK seems to have imploded’: how world’s press sees Truss’s Britain | Conservatives | The Guardian

Doubtless, the Daily Fail will have a leader telling us all that the EU is about to collapse, and we will arise from the ashes of the past decade of Labour Government,
and
YES!
Those feet did walk upon England`s gree…etc.

Doubtless, “the faithful” will believe the gas-lighting (fracked gas, obviously) Tory rags above the evidence of their own eyes.

“France’s riot police search trains crossing border and return migrants to Ventimiglia”

infomigrants.net/en/webdoc/ … s-to-leave

Kinda ironic. As the French even pre-brexit the process of sending immigrants back was extremely difficult. With France doing very little to stop illegal crossing. (Remember the Calais jungle- pre-brexit times).

UK gilts are just like treasury bonds in the US, they’re a loan to the government. Over the last year the rate that people want to lend the UK gov has gone from under 1% to 5%. This isn’t quite payday loan risk but it’s not good. Being paid for out of our taxes.

Stupid Brexit…

The well known Rees-Mogg was on the “Today” programme today explaining how the recent budget and U-turn were nothing to do with the state of the UK economy and how the BBC were biased for suggesting so!
After all the drop could have been due to events two days earlier? The rise after the U turn could have been, the sun popping out from a cloud??
He almost said that “the market” had it all wrong, but that would have been heretical, so he just about bit his lip on that one.

Wonderful hearing an historian argue about finance, almost as good as our own Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Since Kwarteng`s doctorate was about re-coinage in 1695, did he get any contemporary views from Rees-Mogg?

I’m more ■■■■■■ off with brexit in that instead of giving it a good go ( I know a year or two isn’t long ) but they just seem to have given up on it , going to a eu meeting ( I know no flags what etc ) but it was set up by macron , van Der lyen though apparently not speaking was there
Then we’ve nadine saying if we need engineers from Spain just ignore the language barrier & just let them in , different to she was saying
Baker apologising to eu etc
Braver man ( is that her name ) in charge of immigration seems to be the only one giving it a good shot
I didn’t want brexit , I didn’t vote for it , but now we’ve got it let’s give it a good go , not just we can’t be bothered to try
If we do have another referendum I’ll vote leave

■■■■ this government tbh.

Who would of thought a Tory government would of been so reckless financially.
We need tax increases and public sector cuts.
They do not seem to want to cut anything though. While not raising taxes and borrowing billions for a range of things.

Madness.
Maybe I am old fashioned though, but austerity is the way out. Austerity was not needed in say 2008 when Cameron went with it. But it sure as ■■■■ is now.

Why would anyone think a Tory Gov would be better financially than a Labour one?

After the Global crisis hit the Blair/Brown Gov the Tories said they should have been more prudent.
Before the Global crisis hit they were urging more relaxation of rules, and more risky behaviour.
Mind you, they always want fewer rules for bankers.

Austerity didn`t get us out of the last recession, why would it get us out the next one?

Public sector cuts? For what advantage?

A worse educated upcoming workforce?
Worse roads and other infrastructure so business struggles?
Less healthy workforce sitting at home waiting for appointments, rather than getting treated and back to work?
More crime wasting time and money?

Spending more on the public good is a cost effective investment for business.
It is also a nice thing to do!

Most people assumed the Tories would be better due to how radical Corbyn’s plans were. He wanted to go on a nationalization spending spree.
Which to be fair, might of been good.

To answer your question we have peaked growth wise in my view.
You can not achieve the growth that was once possible and ‘fix’ the environment.
I think consumer based growth has served us great for many years, but we at some point are going to need to move on from it.

Sure you can have all these nice things. But we also have to increase taxes to match.

I’m also of the view that you should leave something better than you found it. It should not be the responsibility of our children to pay off our debts. But chances are the covid debt we racked up will be paid for by our kids for decades to come.

To go into even more detail.

A worse educated upcoming workforce? The education system needs major cuts. In particular in Higher Education. I’ve known people do degreees in firefighting. It is complete nonsense. By letting anyone get a degree all it has done is push the employment sector to demand degrees for things that once did not need them. We need to get people in work faster and spend less time racking up debt. Each government talks about fixing the apprenticeship schemes but no one does it. Nursing never used to require a degree for example. We need to ask ourselves… Is this something we can train people to do without degree level education.

A worse educated upcoming workforce?
I do not think we should money on infrastructure. I would def start charging EV cars road tax though. To help fund improvements. Along with scrapping cycle lanes lol.

Less healthy workforce sitting at home waiting for appointments, rather than getting treated and back to work?

I wish there was an appetite for a radical transformation of the NHS but there isnt. Just seems like we are on a managed decline with it.

Why cut education?
Because we assume there is nothing more to nursing than wiping bums and sticking needles into arms, and firefighters only need to squirt water around, doesn`t mean it is so. That is a sign of our ignorance.

Infrastructure is needed for any progress a of all kinds to be made anywhere and everywhere.

No need to restructure the NHS, just invest in what is there.
No need to buy a new car, just so long as you spend a few quid on oil and filters for the old one.
The Tories want to sell us a new system so they are refusing to spend money on the old one whilst telling us it is old and rattly. They won`t change the spend a few quid to change the plugs because they can turn a profit when it breaks down and they and their buddies flog us a more expensive one.

Our children paying off our debts !! I can only speak personally but this year I’ve paid £1500 for my girl to go on hol , £250 for her car ins , I’ve a d/d coming out my account for her car tax , back door for £1000 , god knows how much on clothes , meals etc etc etc , then when me & the mrs are gone she will inherit hundreds of thousands in money / property etc
She’s always very thankful of her mum & dads help & I doubt very much she will have any thing to moan about debt wise when we’re gone , and knowing my girl she’ll be more upset we’re gone than any debt we haven’t left her .

dozy:

The thing is Dozy not everyone is gonna do be as fortunate as your daughter.
For example I stand to inherit £0. I also had no one buying me a car or getting it fixed. I had to pay for everything for myself.
Also a lot of families just starting out these days can not even afford a house. So they will likely be renting in perpetuality. As my parents did.
So, a lot of kids these days stand to inherit very little and if they do go to University that is an easy £50k+ debt before they even start working.

Oh, and you also got the covid stupidity that was basically 2 years of locking kids down for no reason that had god knows what effect on them. Mentally and in terms of losing out when it comes to learning.

When it comes to the younger generation they truly have been ■■■■■■ lol.
The younger generation like to say we are ruining their future with climate change… No that is nonsense its everything else we have ruined for them lol.

The ideal time to be born would of been the 50s/60s and maybe early 70s. Those guys had it ■■■■■■■ good. As someone born in the 90s I am bitter as ■■■■ I was not born in the 60s lol.

If your economy is smaller [as a definite consequence of brexit], you either have to tax people more to pay for the services they expect, or you cut those services, or you borrow. There are no other ways out.”The brexiteers in the tory party lied by making two false claims in relation to paying for the services. Firstly, lied when they promised £350 million per week windfall as a direct consequence of exiting the EU; and secondly, they claimed that brexit was going to generate free trade deals not only with the EU itself, but also with the US, Canada, Japan, and many more big player economies countries.Instead we have deal with the EU that has generated more redtape than we ever had as an EU member, and the only new free trade deals are with Albania and Mongolia. Wow!!So what’s left is to cut the services or borrow. The voters were conned because they were never told the home truth. They were promised better, services, better roads, better public services, and levelling up, but it was all a big lie. To make things worse Trussonomics of cutting taxes was never going to work and make good on the levelling up promise. It was never going to work for those that voted tory in 2019. It was a policy for cronies. All that’s left now is the reality of brexit -viz- austerity, more borrowing, higher inflation, unprecedented contraction of the economy and many lives being turned upside down all because of an ideology that was never going to work in reality.Brexit was/is a fraud.

If we were to rejoin the EU (as the latest Omnisos poll shows the majority of the public now want),
what Brexit Benefits you’ve got or had would it hurt most to lose ■■

Can I keep the £10 million in my Cayman account hidden still?
