So maybe theyre paying 500 euros and not pounds…a lot of people forget that ireland is in the euroland now…and when they quote 500 a week take home…it gets misinterpreted…if ya know what i mean…innit…but some beggars cant be choosers…

Hey Pete ,It’s £500 Net. And for 6days and I’ve been told they do pay for Bank hols, but is under review for new pay structure.Don’t know if I’ve got the job as yet, still waiting for the insurance companies’ descision.
Have a good weekend.
Its personnel choice really and everybody knows that its not big money on euro work but if you are willing to work very hard for your money and dont go in with your eyes shut then the job can be rewarding. It`s something differant and it gives you good experiance. Very few english companies doing it so Irish are the second choice. Best advice i could give would be try it for yourself then you know for sure what its about. If its not what its cracked up to be then move on.
I know some people will disagree with this but it can get a hold of you and with the right irish subby you could earn some good money but youll have to work for it.......... Last point **"never regret the things you did in life only regret the things you didn
t get chance to do"** your a long time dead

Any chance of you giving a legible and informative reply when you aint ■■■■■■■ or appear to be?
Hexenhammer last week you were going to work for Virginia transport, this week its Breen transport, who will it be next week?
mr bluecity:

At this rate he will be asking for Nolans phone number.
my dad used to drive for cafferys for a bit, trucks are all decent, the works alright, but the backloads can be a bit funny, ie: 5 collections in france for 10 deliveries in ireland / uk etc, slight exaggeration perhaps
he kept decent enough hours, got home once a week, but then our house is only 5 mins down the road from their depot so he could bring the truck home on his way out / home that sort of helps when you can do that
money was gash

As he said in earlier posts, the jobs he has gone for he has been refused due to a past health problem, which is why i would think he is trying differnt firms.
After all we have all got to earen a crust

Thanks Daleyboy,I didn’t bother replying to mr bluecity as I assumed HE COULD NOT READ .
caffery is all poles or eastern europeans now.
the problem is,they will drive all night and day.
the chiefs will want us to do the same.
they consider the 100 euro a day as good money whereas its crap for us.
theres a lot to be sorted out in ireland.
the police are cracking down on the hours laws over there, the easterners are ruining what we have made good jobs of over the years.
conditions are deteriorating over there.
i often think,it was a sad day,the day they knocked the berlin wall.
Willy o 'leary aka sailaway, and never come home.
Aka Zig and Zag 2 brothers always fighting. I had a 1 of there drivers ( A german) to tell one of the brothers that the rear brake chamber had a hole the size £2 coin in and locked the brakes on. The reply was “can you fix it so the driver can make the boat in time”.
i just googled oleary.
comical.
blatent lies on the internet.
they claim to do milan in 24 hrs and madrid in 36 hrs using 2 drivers.
i have done plenty of milan and madrid work from ireland.
from cherbourg to milan is approx 15/16 hrs drive plus the rosslare direct ferry,i forget how long this takes, been years since i was on it,but it is at least a 20 hr sailing.
madrid is longer although handy from cherbourg as its a straight line to bordeaux.
maybe the oleary dreamers come from paris, definitely not from ireland.
its the old story.
paper will never refuse ink.
i also wonder the legality of having your 9 hrs off in a moving truck.
neil answers please.
i dont think this is allowed.i await neils answer.
i heard breens only payin 80euro a week but also theres no work with 18 lorries parked up
no way is it 80 euro a week.
its got to be per day.
its still bad money.
work is not good at the moment all right.
the company i am working for have little or no work either.
taking on anyhing they can get at whatever bad rates are going.
i am delighted i gave up having my own truck.
what a pain in the ■■■■.
i was an owner driver for many years.

Apologies Mike C.
You are right, I have been on a bit of a tear
lately coming to the end of an extended holiday.
Took to logging on to trucknet while I was half
jarred.
Informative reply:
Breens: I spoke to a polish driver with them about
a year ago just outside bordeaux, seemed happy enough,
he said that he stook to permitted hours 90%, I think
this digital tacho and 28 day records has brought alot
of irish hauliers in line.
I also think that the hauliers are loosing money here because
of this an thus keeping wages down. After all they are in direct competition with eastern european hauliers now and are trying to
lower their cost base to similar to these.
Who can blame them, we can sit here and lament over the demise
of the irish and english international haulage sector but after all it is a free
european market, if you look at the bigger picture i’m sure that it
has advantages somewhere, not sure where though.
I’d imagine driving jobs are very thin on the ground in ireland now.
Construction has more or less collapsed in the last six months so
there is bound to be a lot of drivers who were previously driving
tippers and so on now looking for a change into general
haulage.
I am currently doing to ADR course to try increase my chance
of getting a job. Although I dont expect it to be easy to find or
recieve get wages.
