Paid straight through as well. I never take a 45 either, always 15 and 30 as boredom kicks in sharpish.
Also, as all hours are paid regardless of mode, Company policy states that when 60hrs weekly shift time is up, it’s end-ex.
Salaried so could be yes or no. If I’m sat twiddling my thumbs in a queue etc I put it on break as a matter of course. If I have time to drink a coffee, play on my phone and have a sarnie that’s free time as far as I’m concerned and cuts down on working time so gives me the potential for a bit of OT if I need it.

don’t most workers on hourly pay have breaks deducted?
remember when i worked in warehouse had hours break deducted at lunch
just now i work at most 8 hours a day, guaranteed 8 hours pay
but if over 8.75 hours the 45 mins taken off us
so have a break whilst waiting for my trailer is being loaded…
start at 12 noon… back at 19.30
if i wanted to be militant and have 45mins after being loaded no difference to hours paid
This is pretty normal which is why a short day will either be hammered to get finished in 8 hours or dragged out to over 9 hours. I now get paid breaks which is rare and even rarer, is being passed on by the agency so no rush and no pressure. Happy days
the break is a statutory requirement for working the job. Therefore it is work. Therefore it should be paid. If the employer/agency deducts payment from your salary, it is reasonable to take a good book with you and enjoy a 45m break which the employer can legitimately deduct.
We get an hour taken off us a day. So i take an hour to suit me. Sometimes its split some times its not.
Currently sitting on break waiting to get a tyre change. Boooo
30 minutes per day deducted regardless of whether I’ve shown 45 minutes or 8 hours (believe me, it happens!) break that day. The only time we don’t get the 30 mins deducted is if our shift lasts 10 hours 29 mins or less as we’re guaranteed 10 hours per day.

I had no idea paid break time was a thing. It’s like being paid for the drive home. Or to sit in the garden with a cold lager.
My house is about 5 minutes from the yard. If, for instance, I finish at 1550, I’ll put 1600 on my timesheet and get paid for the short drive home.
It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that I’ll be sat in the garden with a cold beer before I’ve clocked off.
last driving job I did was a night shift with a guaranteed minimum number of hours paid. it wasn’t unusual to finish the shift, cycle home from London Colney to Luton and be back indoors and in bed enjoying a night cap while still being paid.
Being deducted breaks has been a standard thing in industry for years i think? Haulage enjoyed a golden time when breaks weren’t deducted on the whole then they caught on to the fly.
Puzzles me a discussion is taking place regarding whether breaks are paid yet it is almost taken as wrote that you will not get paid for the long break (rest) at the end of the day if you’re night outing?
