Breaking News - Man With Bomb in HGV office

Blueiain:
Well he’s giving up, I hope he’s okay, and I hope Advantage get shafted

It certainly sounds like his motivations have to do with how the training was brokered the more we’re hearing about it.
Some of these training schools have been allowed to get away with too much and for too long. There was even a panorama documentary about it not so long ago.

As bloodoodle has already mentioned the hostage situation is at Advantage HGV, a training broker.

According to Sky News the professional drivers foundation are saying Advantage HGV have a history of taking money going bust then trading by another name. Perhaps there’s more to all this than simply a guy failing his test?

it looks like it.
and if he keeps it up, he may get some public sympathy.

the guy could have been made redundant, and used all his savings on a company with false promises.
we’ve all seen the adverts. guaranteed pass, guaranteed job at £600+ per week.

I think you could be right. I’ve just been scanning through and I can find no end of threads on internet forums about this company. There’s a couple on the pdf website and I believe there’s been some on here as well.

Advantage HGV have been getting some very bad publicity over this, the problem is that they will probably just go into liquidation and restart under a different name :imp:

Personally I hope this situation gets brokers who take peoples money under false promises of thousands of well paid jobs being available to trainees some really bad publicity.

If that’s true, they deserved to be blown up :smiling_imp:

There’s an old thread here about Advantage HGV viewtopic.php?f=2&t=81425.

I think you’ll find that Advantage Training Services are a different company to Advantage HGV.

I might be confused then, but that thread is titled “Advantage Hgv, brokers” so I thought it was the same one.

That may be so, but some of the same names seem to crop up

i hope he gets off with a slapped wrist by a sympathetic magistrate.

In a video posted on YouTube by the Huffington Post, Abby Baafi, 27, who works at Advantage Training Services, the business the man was said to have stormed, said: "I recognised him because he was one of our previous customers.

"He turned up, strapped up with gasoline cylinders, and threatened to blow up the office.

"He doesn’t care about anything, he is going to blow up everybody.

“He was specifically looking for me but I said ‘My name’s not Abby’ and he let me go.”

It’s Abby’s fault.

a bit further down;

She added that the two men said they had been let go as they were parents and were told to leave the building.

Sounds like a decent enough chap.

the following link has comments from the head of training.
