Can someone please tell me what exactly the definition of “break” is, a mid shift break, rather than daily rest.
i had always understood it to be something along the lines of " a rest period during which a driver is free to dispose of his time as he sees fit"
The problem is, that i am pretty sure that you can take a break in the passenger seat of a moving truck ( when double manning) but in this situation, a driver would not be able to dispose of his time as he sees fit.

REST is ‘dispose of his time as he sees fit’
The second driver can have a BREAK in a moving vehicle
The digi cannot record BREAK when double manning as the second driver slot does not allow it so the first 45 mins of any period of POA is deemed as BREAK
Would you like the actual quotes from the EU DRIVER REGS

Guidance would be really helpful
Thanks

A rest period is time that the worker can freely dispose of his/her time.
A break is time that can be used exclusively for recuperation, so you do not necessarily have to be able to dispose of the time as you see fit .
There’s nothing to stop you from legally taking a break in a moving vehicle.
