One of the more important things I’ve learnt about driving trucks is “if there’s any doubt, there’s no doubt”.
Usually, being only half certain about something results in the sounds of crunching plastic, looking like a pillock, getting embarrassed, wondering why the hell you tried to do that, or a combination of the above!
So I just avoid all that these days and take the coward’s way round
