to learn on,courtesy of Crowlands LGV training school.Saw it thursday afternoon being put to good use by the latest group of trainee cat C drivers.Nice to see a school investing in such nice kit for future drivers and for those who are in the South East/Essex area I can personally recommend Crowlands who are based in Romford
Nice one!!!
(But then I would say that, my favourite truck at the moment…
)
One point to ponder, though…Stralis’s come with an automatic gearbox as standard - so would passing in this mean that you only get an auto licence■■?
I ask because a friend of mine got caught out this way by doing his Class 1 in an old Volvo with a Techtronic box in it - plus it is a known catch with taking your psv in a semi-auto bus…
Crowlands have always had decent gear. I did my class 2 with them two years ago. They used iveco eurotech rigids, but seems now they have got the new ones. They also use a very nice looking Renault Premium for the C+E with what looks like a 30ft flatbed trailer. Always well turned out and clean…
Yep Im sure they will have an auto restriction on the licence

your spot on lucy regarding psv licence,if you pass in any automatic vehicle then you ain’t allowed to touch a manual bus.not that there is many left nowadays.its the same as car drivers if they pass in an automatic they are not allowed to drive a manual,as for trucks is it not a case of a conversion course,ie taken out by a mechanic or another authorised instructor to convert the driver from auto to manual.good point lucy.i would like to hear the forum’s points and views on this one
How you getting on with the driving Andy?

How you getting on with the driving Andy?
Oh mate, I’m loving it. Ive been out on the road now for about 5 weeks, this is the 6th I think… but i’ve been having a blast… I prefer all the unknown destinations, I even swapped with another driver today, so I could do his runs to Stratford-Upon_Avon, and then down to Aylsebury, and he did my three runs to Basildon and back…
Getting to know my way around too, which is good…
Dont think I will be doing anything else for the rest of my working career, but I cant see past the Cab-Happy Stage at the moment… I’m prob the only lorry driver out there with the biggest smile on my face ever… LOL
Thanx for asking tarten…
ah you’re always smiling mate but we can’t see you’re other hand lol
Stralis? NO THANKS! plastic to the max and false alarms dingdong all the time. The auto box is ok but you have to be careful in the wet on roundabouts or you’ll end up spinnin her up and backin her in like you’re on a MotoGP bike this is cos u lift off to steady up and the thing drops a pair of gears…oh and the interior ■■■■■, looks like a bad 80’s duvet cover from Argos and the windscreen seems to be small too.
