Brakes on the vans doing schools and what not? I don’t see you lasting a single shift in that kinda job tbh. You need a trucking job on nights away from folk dozy.
If he did work there Just think of all the great story’s we would get, if he got the time there would be one every day but he wont.
I’ve just started at Brakes full time on Artic trunks. Over the past 4 years I’ve covered all of the artic jobs on agency at some point (not the many more rigid runs), making it a smoother experience on a “temp to perm” contract.
The job I’ve taken was not advertised. The rigid vacancies are advertised all the time though.
So… My suggestion is for those currently “not working at Brakes at all at the moment”…
(1) Join an agency that send you in there, and ask to be put on the artic jobs until one of them comes up as a vacancy
or
(2) Send in a speculative application form.
or
(3) Get your foot in the door on the rigid deliveries, but ask for Night work. This would allow you to be flexed into artic run cover when required.
If you take a full time job on the early starts on rigids though - I think it’s a case of “nether the twain shall meet” - making it harder to go full time artic from full time rigid.

I await his story of how he has knocked down a hospital because he couldn’t wait for someone to move the ambulance that was in the way of where he needed to turn.
