Brakes..one rule for them etc

Bigtruck3:
How hard is it to just state what’s in front of your face, they are still implementing their own rules to themselves looking after themselves with covid
Covid is still there so they tell us plus if it ever was there in the first place
For the simple mindset, you enter and tell them your not prepared to sit in a waiting room with other people because it’s confined and covid unfriendly
You then tell them your going to your truck and if they are not happy with that just ask for a code to get out the gate
How hard is that, there will always have the blind leading the blind in this game but come on who is not going to let you go back to the cab and if you did pull out because of it your boss would be on shaky ground if he did something about it
My God folks work it to your advantage, we all have been under restricted measures for the last 2 years
and it’s still not over, not as bad but not over, the winter will tell, it’s the new tool to use like health and safety, and GDP I think it’s called, it’s the only god dam rights you have and can use in this job
And I wouldn’t be arguing a point for the benefit of other people the only way in this game is look after yourselve only and stand up for yourself only and let the rest of the blind follow there own rules, that’s why you win because your good at your job we are a minority so they don’t push to hard because they have enough of the blind to do anything that there told
So true

Yep you’re right mate,.and as I said that was my first instinct, to protest, but I watched these guys just sucking it up and I thought why tf should I make myself unpopular, when these lot clearly couldn’t give a toss.

My days of speaking up for drivers are long gone, they are mostly all gob amongst themselves, but if you speak up for them they back right down in front of authority to make you look a complete ■■■■.

Half of today’s modern drivers are robot like who will put up with any ■■■■■■■ thing, the other half are just thick.
So as I’ve said on here many times before, I just look after numero uno. :sunglasses:

I stretched out on my bunk, Brakes totally oblivious,.they sat in a ■■■■ hole of a waiting room, everybody was happy…job done.

Why bother sharpening the spoon? Surely blunt and slow is more satisfying?

Hmm… I like the way you think mate.

Let’s be honest, if these companies are so concerned about their employees welfare they’d install Lock/stop systems. While the rest of Europe seem to cope without the dreaded ‘drivers waiting room’ and not even asking for sets of keys. Most in Europe do have a driver’s area but most are pleasant rooms with decent loo’s and a shower. Once again the UK looking decidedly 3rd rate. Could it not argued with any H&S goon that you’re not concerned with your own wellbeing but you have vulnerable people at home and don’t want to risk bringing covid into their homes?

(lovely arse btw  )

A necessary inclusion in the post?

yes…i for one knew which one he meant now

I have done the same as a few here where I have handed my keys in and slipped off back to the cab and kept myself out of sight especially at one of the RDC I deliver into regularly ( will keep it anonymous) the only waiting / drivers rooms I tend not to mind are the 4 or 5 Amazon rooms the ones I have been in have all been large and airy , clean with decent facilities ( toilets, vending machines etc )

Brakes Grantham…

If your’e tipping there, you have to stand by the door whilst matey on the wheels tips it.
Meanwhile, if you drive for Brakes, you can sit in the cab on a red light whilst you’re being loaded.

Double standards indeed.

We should bombard them with e.mails asking them why a difference is made between their own employees and visiting drivers in terms of duty of care.

Looked on 6heir website for a contact,.there is only customer service, that does not really apply.
However there is a facebook for Brakes Newhouse…but I ain’t on Facebook.

All that will happen is the Brakes drivers will have to stand by the door lol.

Jobs proper ■■■■■■.

So Rob, which half do you fit in?

Its like at Pepsi, you arrive and they tell you you must wear a hard hat ■■? but you don’t have one because why would you need a hard hat at an RDC, so they give you one worn by the previews driver, but they don’t steralize it or clean it or anything, that is health and saety for you.

But you have no choice to mind the Amazons ones, as they lock you in! Well they have to the ones I have been to.

But yes the Amazon waiting areas are OK

Yes I remember the one near Manchester airport… you’d go into an outside caged off area, and that was locked so you couldn’t get out into the yard. Then you’d go into a waiting room and could go in and out of that freely. I remember thinking it was a step too far. I think at Tilbury an Amazon worker with a fob has to let you out of the waiting room. You can’t just walk out on your own. I detest it. I got banned from Tilbury once for refusing to give the yard marshall my keys whilst I jumped in the trailer to throw a strap across the back pallets.

I had to have a yard marshall walk me to the waiting room last week at amazon Dartford. But on the way he had to deal with a lorry reversing on a bay so he could ■■■■■■ that driver too. I had to wait with him through the whole procedure, even though I was just 100 yards from the waiting room. H&S is brutal at some amazon places.

Yeh the Manchester Airport cage…after the ■■■■■■■■ of having to drop the trailer and be escorted by the yard Marshall to the cage that was enough. Never been back since
