Brake's fail

Why would you end up in prison if your brakes failed.

I’m guessing that there was reason to believe that the vehicle was unroadworthy before the journey begun.

By the way, her sentence was suspended so she never ended up in prison.

I see this topic is also discussed in another thread.

Sorry I never see the word suspended sentence.

Mmmm, perhaps an in-cab camera could remove some of the big questionsšŸ˜€

Vehicle condition falls under the heading of dangerous driving depending on the circumstances.

The way the truck was being driven, does not demonstrate that the driver had any reason to suspect that the brakes had a defect.
Often a guilty plea is entered to reduce the penalty and/or because the defendant cannot afford a quality defense team.
It appears from the video and we have to accept on face value that the collision was caused by brake failure. Ergo, the driver is guilty as charged, unless mitigating circumstances can demonstrate otherwise.
Mitigating circumstances may or may not work in the defendant’s favour. Often pleading guilty, at the earliest opportunity, is the safe bet.

You do you walk around check..you can’t physically see what state brake pads are in on a truck. You can check for fluid leaks then do a brake test when drive forward slam on see if they work.
Not much else you can do really regarding brakes
