Does anyone support this charity? Whenever one of their members are on the radio, it’s normally some car hating windbag whos son killed himself by running his Corsa into a tree; Now she takes out her anger by blaming everyone but her son.
No, they seem to think speed is the killer funny how Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button aint dead yet

No but Roger Williamson is though. Oh wait, that was down to the “safety marshalls” standing and watching: Search YouTube to see what I mean.
Brake whine about anything that involves a vehicle over 1kg doing over 2mph

Nope…
Nothing new about people dying in car crashes, maybe if they taught their kids some responsibility, they’d still be alive, shouting and screaming at us that are still going isn’t going to help

First time I have seen this.
Thankfully race safety is a lot more effective now
I seem to recall that the lady who started BRAKE was a passenger in the car that was hit by a speeding truck with defective brakes and driven by an idiot. It occoured in Derbyshire (and I know the name of the company involved) and the ladys mother was killed in the resulting crash, she has had a ‘downer’ on the road transport industry ever since which is maybe understandable in the circumstances.
Pete.

definitely not…
they are a bunch of idiots…they are fanatics and like all fanatics are totally unable to be objective and disregard anything that even slightly cast doubts on their opinions.

BRAKE was formed by a lady named Mary Williams after her mother was killed when her stationary car was rammed by a 38 tonne tanker lorry with faulty brakes.

Since then she has campaigned for higher mechanical standards for goods vehicles, and I’m in her corner seeing as I sit right up the front and would be the first person to get his neck snapped.
All via Google, just to put things in perspective.
University lecturer Susan Williams was crushed to death when a lorry with defective brakes and steering and other dangerous parts careered out of control down a hill, toppled on to her car and crushed her to death. The company involved, H G Pheasey and Son of Bakewell, which operates three lorries, was found guilty in September, in the magistrates court, on several counts of failing to maintain the lorry and comply with the tachograph rules. Mr. Pheasey was fined £2,300, most of it payable in £20 instalments. Despite previous convictions for mechanical defects and for one of his vehicles being found unroadworthy, he was allowed by the traffic commissioner to stay in business
Local to me, it caused a lot of companies to tighten their maintenance up, though the driver had a few previous ‘mishaps’ due to careless driving as well.
Pete.
The improvement in standards is fine but all they seem to bleat on about now is speed, speed humps and speed cameras…

+1
It’s ‘cos measuring speed is relatively easy scientifically, and therefore easy to issue fines/FPN’s etc. whereas scientifically measuring drivers’ abilities in any given situation is much more difficult…so more difficult to make it stick in court… .
The authorities don’t give a stuff either way from a safety point of view, except that the speed thing generates millions so they have embraced it with open arms.
Don’t think it’s from a safety perspective though 'cos it ain’t…
