I am starting a new job next week and part of my contract says i must do at least 8 hours per shift, I,m not looking forward to doing such long shifts but i guess i,ll have to get used to it.

The main query i have is if i have to do 8 hours 5 days a week this = 40 hours.

So in theory there must be a longest amount mathematically that i can do in any one week as if i do 40 minimum i cant compensate very much for the R.T.D.

So if anyone has got a clue what i am talking about and can work it out i would really appreciate it, we are working on a 26 week average.

8 hour shifts, less poa and breaks, you should have no problems there Jammy.

You need to average 48 hours or less to stay inside the WTD. So it looks easy enough at the moment. Give it a few weeks, see what really happens mate.

I have 45 mins to take off but NO poa i am trying to get my hours up not down!!!, I NEVER use poa when im at work im at work, the new job is salaried so i need to get as many hours work as possible in order to get days off hopefully.

So all the time i have a tacho in is either work or break.

The thought was that if i start to average 55 hours near the start of the period and i have to do an 8 hours shift then when it comes near the end of it they will have to cut me down to 40 max and possibly end up having time off as they can only gain 1 hour a day on the rtd.

Its hard to explain what i mean really.
