Last Thursday evening my wife was driving down a residential street when some numpty failed to stop at a give way sign then crashed into the passenger side of her car, its now a right off. The idiot brigade (local plod) turned up but should have stayed in their canteen for all the good they were. No further action is to be taken against the other driver for causing the crunch as it was ‘jump a bump’ Just a bump my arse, an 06 plate car written off and the wife is now off work for God knows how long with a neck injury and our twelve year old daughter terrified. Another member of the public justifiably having no faith in our useless police force
Her car was a Renault Clio so no wonder it feel apart !
Unfortunately the bloke who said that the law protects the innocent was greatly ill-advised. The system stinks. It does not work and cannot be trusted.
Could you not take private action?
My sympathy, but I doubt there’s much you can do about it.
All we can hope for now is that her insurance company (and the prats insurance) realise that it was his fault and pay her out accordingly.
As an aside we have a wicked ole cow of a woman who lives across the road from us who takes great pleasure in trying to land people in the mire, well I have just put my M3 on the road and I have 14 days to notify my insurance company of doing so therefore its not on the insurance database as being insured yet and at the mo we seem to have a more marked number of police cars passing our house, I wonder if the ole bag has been on the phone AGAIN.
5 weeks ago, one of our vans was hit by a woman coming out of a side street on the left. First of all her insurance refused liability, as she had told them that she was the one going along the straight road, and that our driver had pulled out. We sent in photos of the damage to both vehicles, pointing out that the damage was on the wrong side (front LH corner of ours, front RH corner of hers) for her version to add up. We also included a copy of the tracker report, showing where ours was etc.
They then disputed it again after a couple of weeks, as she had then said that our driver had admitted that he had swerved when his foot slipped off the pedal. Again we pointed out that our van was going along a straight road at a steady speed, as evidenced by the tracker etc, and that the only pedal hsi foot would have slipped off was the throttle, which wouldn’t have caused a swerve.
5 weeks further on, and they still won’t admit fault, and want to go knock-for-knock, with us paying our own excess and replacement vehicle hire, along with putting up with her husband screaming on the phone at us every few days when we suggest that his wife was 100% to blame!
Bloody insurance companies - hate the, almost as much as banks and politicians!
Gary
So far so good with my wife’s insurance company but that may all change when sorting out who was to blame but cant see any problem as he crossed the give way sign and hit her. No way are we going to accept any thing less than clear vindication and don’t care how long it takes either. Likewise will accept no less than the true retail market value.
Most insurance vultures will pile on the pressure to get early settlement and a lot will accept the first offer as they may need the money to get another car but we are not that desperate. Like as been said as bad or even worse than banks.
raymundo:

To be fair what action could they take which would directly benefit you? As said, in cases like this it’s the insurance companies that cause the problems.
let’s look at it this way, your the insurance company, and mr a is the dumb… who hit raymundo car. the police say it’s just a bump, you as an insurance company will argue the toss because the police have said it’s just a bump.
but if the police say it’s mr a’s fault, you as an insurance company, can’t argue the toss because the police have already said it’s your driver is at fault.
My wife’s insurance company have looked at the sketches complete with all measurements, positions of parked cars angles of clear vision etc and have said that my wife was in no way to blame or in any way attributable to the ‘bump’. But the ‘arse’ who hit her is still saying ‘not my fault’ and his insurance company as would be expected is delaying the final closure by not replying to any letters. We have been given a satisfactory settlement figure for the car and the doctor hopefully will sign her off as fit to work possibly this weekend or maybe the next, she is bored already. So that’s all good.
The reason that I am peeved that the idiot is getting away with careless driving or whatever is because of ‘‘THINK OF THE CHILDREN’’, there is a primary school not 50 yards away from the junction and during term time there are quite a few kids who ride down that road on bikes.
Does anyone know how fast a 1.1ltr Clio can accelerate from a standing start, a 90 degree right turn then to the point of collision 47 metres ahead ?
my wife hit another car when her foot slipped off the clutch. silly cow.
it was entirely her fault, she told her insurance company that it was her fault.
the insurance companies deduced that it was 50/50.
