In a 18tr would it be best to stick to motorways or cut across A65 ?
It’ll take you the thick end of 45 minutes just to get to Skipton from Tong by which time you could be half way up the M61.
If you want a day out then go the A65. If you want to get there quick go the motorway.

Depends what time of day but if I was light I’d go A65. You’ll certainly save time over going on motorway as the M60 top side doesn’t get above 40 mph through the day time and it’s an extra 36 miles on the motorway which is fairly significant. Also check where the A591 is closed as there were signs everywhere in Keswick the other night warning that the A591 is closed somewhere around Windermere and no access.
591 is closed at Grasmere, Only way in is from Junc 36 M6 and past Windermere. I have not heard of Lakeside Nurseries but if its Hayes Garden centre, when you get to Lights at Ambleside, go straight on, not left past lake. Garden centre is on your left before town centre. 40MPH speed camera at Ings.before windermere
