A boy has died after being hit by a tipper truck in Bradford.
The incident happened at 13:10 GMT on Valley Road, Shipley, West Yorkshire Police said.
Officers said they were investigating the crash and could not confirm the victim’s age at this stage.
Motorists and pedestrians have been asked to avoid the area. A number of roads have been closed around Valley Road, Frizinghall Road and surrounding routes.

I agree that load bonuses should be made illegal and any firm running such a scheme should get tea and biscuits with their TC.
I’m the only tipper driver around here (to my knowledge) that’s hourly paid and nothing else. No day rate, no bonus, no profit share. No wonder I don’t need to charge about.

So why speculate that the driver was paid this way let the professionals do the investigation and the the arm chair csi take a back seat

It says in the link, and on local radio, that the lad ran out from between parked cars.
The road was still closed at 18.00 when I was on my way home.
Poor lad. Likewise for the driver…deepest to all involved.

So many people do this, even when they’ve seen you. Car drivers do it too, like a “you’re slow, I’m going” mentality.
RIP Young fella. Just read the story in Telegraph and Argus newspaper, 2 years old !!! TRAGIC NEWS

Tipper driver not at fault, according to reports. No doubt some will still blame the driver because a tipper was involved.
It’s not TIPPER Drivers fault that their side of the industry has the most accidents re cyclist… and pedestrians… Me I don’t work on tonnage or bonus scheme… That’s why in an urban situation I’m concentration on my surroundings… Not on what I can impress the neibours with how much I take home…Those that do it I hope they get hard bird an the wife fxxxs of

It must be someone’s fault and invariably it is down to the driver (although admittedly it doesn’t sound it in this case)
There must be something that is causing the bulk of fatalities to involve tippers. Is it the mentality of the drivers, pay incentives, poor vehicle design or just that due to the nature of the construction industry tippers come into contact more frequently with people in cities - or a combination of all of these.
Of course you can legislate the design of vehicles all you like but you’re not going to stop the other problem that contributes to these fatalities - the other persons mentality towards large vehicles. We’ve all seen the idiots oblivious to the dangerous positions they place themselves in when around large/heavy/slow vehicles.

who’s fault is it ? it’s the bloody mother who isn’t looking after her child properly , she should be charged with child neglect . now she’ll play the poor me card when she should have been caring for the child instead of whatever else was occupying her time . i was in exactly that position some years ago when a wee laddie rode his trike in front of me. i was lucky i managed to steer away from him and stop in time , all he had was a bump on his head where the front wheel caught him , it was that close . i called the police and they arrived in minutes , the mother was blissfully unaware watching telly .
Come on you lot a 2 year old child has been killed! This is not the thread to slag tipper drivers off! Start another one and let his parents grieve. If they read this they would be more traumatised than ever
