This has been bugging me for a while and I have googled for this answer but unsure of weather I’m searching for the correct thing!
I see trucks running for a few companies, in particular Senator International is one I see alot - the have either a rigid or w&d with a regular looking box on, except the box has legs folded underneath. Also seen them in a few yards with the legs down either free standing or on a bay. I assume this is so they can be dropped in one place then another picked up from another location instead of leaving trailers all over the place. While I know the basic appearance of them I can’t seem to find the name of them! Can anybody help, and (besides the above) is there any distinct advantages with this kind of setup?
The advantage is that the vehicle does not have to remain whilst it is loaded.
Most kitchen manufacturers use them as it can be quite time consuming to load a few orders onto one box (3 hours plus). With these, the driver arrives back at depot and just swaps his box and is on his way again within 10 minutes.
Many thanks for the above replies to my question. makes sense now that Senator use them as I think they do office furniture, which I imagine could be time consuming. Also did an agency job some time ago for a kitchen/bathroom place and they seemed to use them for alot of things too.
