What a shower of … this lot are:
Job last Monday, Tip 12.00 at Telford and run to Wardle, Nantwich. Boughey Distribution. 16.00
I will digress, like Ronnie Corbett
No problems thinks I. A delay at Telford because, someone had dropped a trailer outside the loading bay on Friday, so the eight o clock booking was still there waiting! The parceline trailer was supposed to be collected at 8.00 but got forgotten They eventually sent a sprinter van to move a 40’ trailer before a unit turned up 2 hours later
Anyway, corbett style, I will return to first story
Arrived at Boughey Distribution BD and drove round site, parking area on left and no parking signs all over, so I parked up and walked down to goods inward.
I stood being ignored for half an hour, then was refused service because i didnt have a yellow vest on. Its in the truck, Im in an office, why would I need a vest? Because it is company rules, he said.
Then were is yours said i. I work here, I dont need one because im in the office. And so am I, I reminded him and when i go outside i will put on my yellow vest.
Youre not booked driver, said he. and how would you know that said I.
Because i do all the bookings here and Im telling you your not booked.
Then this booking reference doesent mean anything then? said I
Where did you get that from? said He That reference number is not one of ours.
Tis so i argued and it matches the one on the CMR and the delivery note.
Well even if it is, I cant tip you because im too busy. said he
Come back at 8.00am youre booked in then. So I had a wash, called France and explained the problem, which they knew of from previous experience…
I had been there since 16.15 and it was nearly 1800 now, so I booked off and had a wash, another driver was talking to me and said that he was going into Nantwich for some food later, if I wanted a lift.
At 19.30 the shunter came round and said i had to move because there is a strict no parking policy on site. I explained that we had a strict tacho rule that said i cant move and showed him the satelite system we use. I cant move till Im tipped. the shunter said that If I went back to the office, i would get tipped because it was shift change. and they werent very busy tonight
I walked back round with my vest and met snotty youth with no vest. I thought i told you morning 8.00am. You did, but he said and I said and he said all ensued again. This driver wants to park on site and is refusing to move! I explained I am not refusing to move but the law says I cant move. The police will move you then, said he. Fine said I, If they come and sign my card i can drive back to our depot and drop the trailer and you can reschedule it for another day.
The police were called and I would have loved to have heard the Sergeant giggling as spotty youth said we have an awkward driver who wont move his truck. Why, because his hours are up, said he.
Needless to say i parked where i was and represented myself at 7.00am to a new spotty youth. Youre late driver, this load should have been here yesterday. Im not and it was, said I.
At 9.30 they pulled me into the shed to tip me and eventually I got my notes back at 11.30.
From 4.15pm to 11.30am to tip 20 pallets of urgent goods. Our customer was screaming at them because they wanted them. Our office was screaming at them because they wanted the truck back and I was screaming at them just for been arses
Give me European work all the time
