Boredom like ive never known

last week i started a job airside at heathrow moving cargo from plane to shed and vise versa, i said i would write a diary to give an insight as to how it was, unfortunatley there is nothing to write, i wish i could say it was really exciting and different and interesting but it is the complete opposite, an 8 hour shift consits of going in and sitting around, i will give an example of my day yesterday:

2pm go in told to get a brew and sit in rest room,

2.30pm allocated an inbound flight from china eta 6pm

5.45pm got a truck and went the stand to collect cargo

5.50pm arrived at stand and began the wait

6.45pm theyre ready to off load cargo so reverse on to load ramp

6.55pm 1 cargo bin and 60 light mail bags loaded off to cargo shed

7.00pm arrive at cargo shed began to wait

7.45pm called to import bay to off load, began chucking bags on belt and was told to slow down theres no rush,1 bag 6ft gap.

8.50pm last bag off, unbelivable, should off taken 10mins head back to base

8.55pm arrive back told to grab a brew, even though there were no flights to do still had to wait around for an hour

10.00pm end of shift and allowed to go

and that is as busy as it will ever get, my mind is numb with boredom, i have to get out but the finances mean i cant afford to be without a wage, there must be a good job out there somewhere.

I done airfreight, not airside but after 1 1/2yrs i had to get away from it. Nothing but sitting around waiting!!!

:unamused: youve never been to some o the supermarket rdc"s have you?
you know not a jot of boredom and waitin!  :unamused:

jeeeez I thought trucking was boring, now i just sit around bored rigid 90% of the time for someone’s world to go ■■■■ up, rush around for a few minutes then wait bored again til everything is sorted out.

No1 boring job:( , apart from the bit where you can help people out .

Didcot Tesco RDC God,s waiting room.

I’d love that job.Take a laptop or some dvd’s in and your sorted.
Sounds better than chasing your arse off for 15hours a day for a crap wage, then sleeping in a layby

I did that airfreight bit at heathrow for a couple of years, moving the stuff from agents to airlines and visa versa plus shipping it around the country for BA and I must say I went round the bend on more than one occassion whilst waiting to tip and load especially at BA not sure I could do it again, not sure that I would want to do it again to be honest

You want to try having Carpal tunnel and being at home for 2 weeks with as wife that has an IQ lower than a ■■■■■■■ Goldfish …

Bored ■■■■ me you never had iot so easy…
