Books?

dan browns books are great!

the davinci code and angels and demons

excellent! best book i have read in a while

Overlanding - by Tim English, it even includes trucks!!

Basically, it’s about a bloke who worked for an overlanding company (kinda cross-country and safari tours etc in the back of a truck i.e. ex army bedford etc) and the ‘adventures’ that it included. It is a true story and quite an eye-opener!!

The Long Walk, not sure of author. prisoner escaped from Russian prison camp and walked his way to freedom from Siberia to India,

It’s by Slavomir Rawicz. He later settled in Nottingham where I knew his son Val. Val was a mechanic who took over the old Fina service station on the A52 Derby bound from Nottingham, just before M1 J25. He bought my old WW2 Morris Commercial reccer and operated it for several years I believe.
You’re right, a very good read.
The other book must have been written just after the war, I remember it being passed around at school.

Salut, David.

certainly is a small world.

If you are still in contact with him or his family you can tell him his story is still remembered, and quoted from time to time

The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists by Robert Tressell should catch the mood of the transport industry.
