BMW

starts production in Africa :frowning:

seen by www.orf.at

if they do it with the Money spend by UK-Gov for doing with Rover?

Mercedes righthanddrive Vans, bought in UK are made in Eastlondon,Southafrica as i know.

come again :unamused:

erm…nope, dont get this one either…

can we have a “completely lost me” in the poll please.

What i belive FRED is trying to put over . is that every one is going out of there way to cut costs, and with BMW they have a factory in S-AFRICA
and are therefore due to the low wages saveing millions over the costs
which they inncur in EUROPE,okay yes they are saveing money BUT
a long as they do not reduce the workforce in EUROPE then why worry as the costs they save there in S:AFRICA are proberly helping to keep the factorys in EUROPE open, and as for MERCEDES VANS they are either
in built in SPAIN or S :AFRICA;

You might care when all the cement is brought in from abroad though ■■.

we dont just make cement, we import it into west thurrock, avonmouth and goole. so we should be alright
our parent company heidleburgh cement group sees to that, its a global company.
same as blue circle which is owned by lafarge, a very huge company
and rugby is owned by cemex, which if i remeber rightly is a mexican company.

re the eu thing.
most things manufactured in the eu cost more to make, due to higher wages, production costs etc, etc. so if all of a sudden everyone was just to buy products from the eu then we would be worse off.
you can either be on 25 k a year and buy a pair of jeans from tesco or asda for £3.00. or you can be on 30k a year and buy jeans from wherever for £30.00.
at the end of the day when wages go up and up then so does the price of stuff, unless that is you use cheaper labour from outside the eu to make your stuff.
its good for them and its good for us.
long live the global market.

If B & Q relied on their products being made in the UK, they wouldnt need all that wasted warehouse space and the trucks would be empty.

so agreed, without a global market we would be eating tripe and onions in season and the supermarkets would only have uk grown carrots and potatoes on the shelf
