Are these still being used as an Alternative to hands free , I’m interested in buying one but it’s been a long time since I used any type of earpiece device any suggestions or decent brands on
The Market
With the…
Majority using hands free built-in systems, the old Bluetooth earpiece is almost considered as an antique.
When I did use one, I found the clearest for both listening and talking was a gaming headset with the boom mic. It surpassed every other device I ever used, even the expensive ones.
Still handy especially when out the Cab and many of the Newer headsets offer noise cancelling Also
Yes some of us still use them, as above have found the boom type best, its worth paying extra for Plantronics who have unsurpassed noise cancelling tech plus over 11 hours talk time on the one i use.
I’ve bought cheaper boom types before but tended to be fragile and not reliable in use.
When i spoken to others using truck or car in built systems the call quality is often rubbish in comparison.
Agree totally plantronics is Hard to beat for build and Noise quality many also come with a Carry case
I though those bluetooth earpieces where only for us limpers with Aldi carrier bags

From what I’ve seen they’re not exclusively for agency drivers but it’s important as agency that you must wear the biggest one known to man.
FWIW I use jabra 25. One up for the base model as it seems comfier fit. If you’re wanting to use Google assistant get a branded one (not sure if it matters with apple or not) as some of the cheap ones like the supermarket own brands don’t activate the voice assistant for some reason. Sound quality is very good. Most don’t realise I’m on the move until I tell them.

And don’t forget it should have a blue flashing LED that is so bright it’s impossible to look directly at it.
I’ll recommend the PL Voyager 4210, its not a cheap thing and was never really maketed here but the odd refurb can be found on ebay, the flashing light as mentioned can barely be seen (in fact i’m not sure if it lights at all during call), it looks a bit of a lump but is very very comfy as well as tough durable and easy to use, mine was a refurb which i paid about £40 for, over 3 years old now and still get a genuine 11+ hours of talk time from a charge, standard micro usb charge socket.
Those cheap ones with the boom mike never lasted more than a year, they usually broke up or started playing up, never got on with those ones you stick into your earhole.
