Does anyone know what the two large blue vans are which have a police ■■■■■■ up the A1?. Seen them a few times going at speed with about 4 police cars. They are plain blue with orange flashing lights

Anyone see that convoy on M1 last week.About 5 green artics with covered trailers.The units doors were actually padlocked from outside.And in front and inbetween each one were some armoured vans.

That would be the nuke convoy. They transport warheads from scotland to berkshire for refurb and then back again. Quite a sight!
As said the green trucks are nukes going to aldermadton.
The blue brinks mat van, with a heavily armed ■■■■■■ is bullion, or money to be destroyed. You never know which, it goes A1 sometinmt stops at Grantham, for break, or M1, stops donington or tipshelf.

saw them this week one full unit one spare plus tow truck juts in case of brack downs.that merc they use as the main unit is well spaced out 4 axles
…Makes one wonder what purpose is still achieved in the 21st century from “moving bullion about the same country”…?

Its an emergency crew that collects Dozy’s friday steak to take to another driver because Dozy didn’t get home.

Early 2000s heading south m6 saw nuclear convoy on northbound near jct 44,bit further south saw blue lights n police chasing a car,unconnected,I presume? But copper must’ve decided,been told to end chase before they got near convoy,used Volvo nose to ‘tip’ the speeding car off balance into a spin,bit disconcerting when parts were flying over central reservation,thought it’d be all over news but nothing?
Another time m1 southbound,seemed empty for mid afternoon,police car blocking on ramp to stop traffic,then after bout quarter mile was a diamond ND head formation of cars,vans,gap in traffic bout another quarter mile n more police in a rolling road block keeping rear space,all going fairly slow,not like the usual royals etc,bikes clearing path then cars speeding through always stuck in mind ?

Royal Marines I believe, used to be anyway.
There is also a workshop on wheels, wrecker, ambulance, spare tractor units, fire engine and more about half a mile behind the main convoy.

When they were moved from Wittering the royal marines were always at the back of the convoy. It’s no longer the raf who move them but the royals still on ■■■■■■
Remember years ago, 1995 I think, I stopped at Washington services on the A1 in my car for petrol. A security van pulled in for fuel just after me accompioned by several other vehicles, police and unmarked. About a dozen guys jumped out the other vehicles, all with big guns, and spread themselves round the perimeter of the forecourt while the van was fuelling. It was quite surreal like a scene from a movie. I’ve no idea what the van was carrying.
