I remember them George but don’t know what happened to them.Weren’t Ramage of Glespin parcel carriers as well,further up the A74 near Douglas?

They are now called Freightroute, been this for a long time. Not sure if they were bought or merged.

15 years or so ago I did a few months on the agency night trunking from their depot on Shaw Rd. Royton to the hub in Rushden.

Thought they went to the wall about 5 years back. The Royton depot is now Tuffnells.

I also did some agency work for them out of the Royton Depot, must have been late 87, it was usually a night trunk to Hinckley, Leics; the only problems were the old tackle they had but never had a breakdown. Job was easy really always got 10 hrs min; and it helped keep the food on the table at the time.

Think they’ve been out of the game for about 10yrs but not sure if they were bought out or just threw their hands in and shut up shop.

Regards
Dave Penn;
