Bloody Police

Was driving my motorbike with the girlfriend on the back on ringway rd near manchester airport on 26th may. I was driving down the main road when a airport bus pulls out of the car park on the right hand side of the road straight in front of me when i say close i mean 20 feet or so i slammed on the brakes and swerved to avoid hitting the bus on the front. The bike flipped over ive broke my leg in various places smashed my knee cap to bits covered in petrol lucky i wasnt killed as i was trapped beneath the bike. The bus driver carried driving and wasnt going to stop until a passenger told him what happened. the boys in blue turned up after about 15 minutes Myself and the girlfriend were in a lot of pain broke her leg as well. they said dont worry they knew i wasnt speeding i was doing about 25 mph and the bus driver admitted he didnt see the bike. i was taken to hospital was in a coma for 5 days. for 4 weeks i have been trying to contact the police who attended. I finally got to speak 4 weeks to find out i was now to blame god knows how. No statements have been taken of me or my girlfriend no witness details as of yet im gob smacked. i have taken this up with police complaints procedure who or now looking into this, does anyone have information regarding the accident investigation procedure used by the police?
thanks in advance

The Police do not say whether someone is liable or not liable in an accident, that is down to the Insurers involved.

Police investigations are to look into if a crime has been committed and if so who is responsible under law.

Just because a police officer says you were responsible does not preclude you from making a claim, depending on how in depth their investigations were it may count against you.

If you have legal cover on your motorbike insurance or through a union, speak to them as they can look into whether or not you have a claim against the bus driver’s insurance.

If you don’t have legal cover, speak to a specialist solicitor who deals in Motorcycle Accidents, there are a few about, you’ll find them in Motorbike magazines or bike forums but they’ll take a percentage of your compensation. For a claim with the potential damages your claim could have they will be falling over themselves to help if you have a valid claim

Why we’re you in a coma for 5 days?

Can’t get my head round this, you knew the police turned up,told you you went to blame and you weren’t speeding then you fell into a coma for 5 days?

Maybe an induced coma to keep him still, they did that to my brother in similar circumstances?

Pete.

This happened to me a couple of years ago. I was walking the dog in the snow, I slipped and twisted my ankle. I carried on with my walk for a further three miles, got home, had a bath and boom…slipped in to a coma for 5 days.

Its a yank thing

Pull your finger out,and engage your brain! :unamused: :unamused: Police don,t care about you.

Email, the police ask for an update, never talk on the phone or verbally this will always end in “tell him what he wants to hear”. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :stuck_out_tongue:

Are you in a union ?

You need to look after number 1 f everybody else.

Get straight on the blower to a ambulance chaser, you got bills to pay remember ! :unamused:

I think police now call it a RTC, not a RTA, so they can stay out of the ‘no win no fee’ debacle’. :unamused:
