Came in on Saturday to put my gear back in the wagon after a week off, checked it all out & everything was ok, even hooked up to a trailer & drove around the yard (no funny lights on the dash).
Came in 04.30 this morning, got loaded, left the yard & Engine control unit malfunction comes on with a red triangle grrrrrr. (MAN tgx 26.440)& won’t go out when you ok it.
Swopped motor for a sister wagon same sort of mileage 260000 km & the same light came on about 6 or 7 times in the first 10 miles but went out on its own. Stayed off for the last 30 miles.
Any ideas what might be wrong ? Or is it a German Conspiricy that they’ve programmed into their MAN’s to Malfunction on the 4th march ?
Its a modern MAN, standard daily operating procedure you are describing.
Quite why anyone buys them they is a mystery to me, so long as they do there’s no incentive for change, i keep hearing the expression they look the part…oh thats fine then pretty ornament.
Lol, definition of exasperation.
My heap displayed same symptoms after a service so called into MAN Odense who discovered a fuel filter manuel pump had been left in the ‘out’ position. Hardly warranted all the red warning lights I thought. Halfway thru its 3 year life with us and counting down the days on my Scania calender!

Funny that !
I’ve been told that it was the fuel filter & that they don’t last between services. Apparently I could have driven without any problems !
I ain’t making that decision at 5 clock in the morning when I’ve got 400 miles to do, who’s Knackers are in the vice if it goes pop ? MINE !
Can I have a Scania Calender too please ?

Probably. Carryfast will be along in a moment to tell you all about it.
