I have recently had a medical all was fine except the blood pressure it took 3 attempts to get the second number below 100.Iwas going
to buy a blood pressure monitor and take reading 3 times a day when i get up half way through the day and before i go to bed. There is only
one problem i am a tramper and i have been advised not not have a blood pressure monitor in the lorry as it would not look good in a bad accident
.Its was a friend who said don’t have a monitor in the lorry.
So would you have a blood pressure monitor in your cab.
Do you already take medication for your high blood pressure? If so,it may need changing.
a small tip before being tested for blood pressure.Take a deep breath and hold for a few seconds three times.Don’t hold your breath too long or your pressure will be zero and that’s not a good sign!

Did your doctor tell you to monitor yourself
Was he worried about it
Did he put you on tablets
Has he asked you to come back
Has he referred you to someone
If no to all above then why would you want to carry a blood pressure monitor with you
It don’t make sense your pressure changes during the day a few times
And with tramping you are under more stress hence high blood pressure
Had HGV medical end of March & it was established I had high blood pressure & was suffering with hypertension. It was a wake up call & since then I’ve lost 2.5 stone, changed diet, started walking & going to the gym. In the intervening months I took home blood pressure twice a day for my own personal records. I also visited a Doctor/Nurse 3 times for blood pressure & aswell as hypertension I had “whitecoat syndrome” ie: blood pressure at home was ok but every time I went into a Dr’s surgery couldn’t get it below 100 (diastolic reading ie: second number) so I had a 24 hour BP cuff fitted from the local hospital which then took an average reading once or twice an hour. It was then established that I was ok & have since reapplied for my licence. Has taken me 4 months to get where I want / need to be, but feel so much better for it. It’s easy to slip into a sedentary lifestyle when you’re behind the wheel. My “magic” secret to Improving my diet was/is porridge + walking anywhere from 5-16 miles.
iv a wrist BP monitor the travel box it comes in no bigger than a travel clock. i wouldnt want a big mains powered machine , as said above the best way to get a good result is to lose weight i lost 4stones feel lot better for it
I have high blood pressure which is medicated and have a monitor at home that I check occasionally. There is a thing called white coat syndrome where your blood pressure reads high when in medical situations. The idea is to relax and breathe slowly.
You obviously have a problem that needs sorting.Taking your blood pressure three times a day is a reason for concern
Did your own Doctor do the medical or was it done on the cheap ■■ your own Doctor I would have thought had you on medication as 140/80 is still high even for a weekend
128/75 is more normal. Your weight and diet and lack of exercise might be a contributing factor.
If you do buy a BP monitor make sure you get an approved model, it needn’t be any more expensive than a non-approved model bihsoc.org/bp-monitors/for-home-use/
There’s some basic do’s and don’ts for self-measurements: feet on the floor, legs uncrossed, five minutes sitting before taking reading, arm at correct height etc. Not sure how well you can do that in your cab. BP will generally be higher later in the day than early in the morning, also likely to be higher after eating.
Any reading over 135 (systolic) and 85 (diastolic) is considered a bit on the high side: your 140 reading is a cause for concern.

I was diagnosed with High BP( stage 2) prescribed ace inhibitors (low dose) Whilst i changed what i was eating cutting the starchy carbs and Ultra processed foods with hidden sugars out,
Replacing with natural fats from real food like meat eggs and dairy Natural fat is not the enemy but sugar is, i due to OA stage 4 of 1 knee am unable to walk or ex cerise enough to maintain a healthy weight eating processed food high in carbs and sugar, So since cutting out potatoes, baked beans, bread some fruits like bananas (carb bars) breakfast cereals porridge included, low carb high fat diet, i have lost around 6 stone in around 12 months, if i was able to exercise more it would not of taken 12mths, my BP is now within normal range has been for around 4 months the last reading was 120/70 it had been 165/90 after my GP basically telling me that i would likely have to take that drug for the foreseeable,But was impressed of how much weight i have lost, i could lose a bit more too, I was 18stone now 12ish stone and have lost around 6 inches off my waist, i feel better too
