If I was responsible for my own fines it just would’nt happen. Pass the buck to your office. They pay.
We do loads of this kind of work and if there’s parking restrictions it states on the paperwork any pcn is added to the bill.
As others have said get the office to speak to the customer see if they can get a few cars moved so you cause minimum disruption just hope it isn’t bin day otherwise it will be carnage.
To be fair in london you get the odd it it shout and bib but most are pretty used to it and accept it as part of living in a busy place.
A labourer at the end of the road directing traffic also helps
I used to regularly block a side street in Chorlton-■■■-Hardy (Manchester) for well over an hour to deliver 3-4 tonnes of bagged flour, hand balling it into a bakery, and despite the fact there where several side streets running parallel and a possible 50m diversion to get passed me. I’d guarantee some fool would try to insist I move to get past

Alright lads and ladies. I have a flooring drop tomorrow in a small street in Clapham, SW11 but I’ll be blocking the entire street when I make my delivery and its a handball job so it could take up to an hour depending on how many are on site to help. I’ve done this before but this time the house that wants the flooring is right across from a primary school. Its got the “no stopping at X times” sign clearly visable on Google Street view plus it looks like I’m going to have to back up the entire street as I won’t be able to exit using the top street.
Where do I stand if I get a ticket? I don’t want a ticket as drivers are responsible for them and I’ll have it pay it myself!
Why not go into the local nick and put the question to them, especially if the school is closed down for Summer Hols

Not all day then is it! Wouldnt surprise me if traffic wardens hung around at these times especially. That’s why I put except in there. Traffic warden won’t waste his time during the school holidays. Some of you lot are wound far too tightly…
FFs it was a joke
Seems to be your one of the wound too tightly lot yourself
You can’t get a ticket for blocking the road, as technically you’re not parked. However, you can be done for obstruction if the police are called, and whatever other crap they can make stick. Personally I wouldn’t block the road, I come across a lot of situations like that on containers. If the customer is too tight to pay for a parking suspension, they get told “I’m parked at the top of the road, see you with the first van full”. Why should umpteen people going about their business be inconvenienced by 1 who can’t sort out a suitable solution? And you’re the one who kops the flack, not the punter
How’d you get on then?
do what I used to do phone the company and ask who pays for tickets[mind you I think you already said]the company I worked for said we don’t pay for tickets,so I replied ok expect the delivery back at the depot, they asked why and I said they want it delivered yet I am expected to pay any fines for stopping out of my own pocket,i don’t think so,they then agreed to pay for any tickets
Radar19 is unfortunately in the cells for the night I fear…

Or the handballing is taking a little longer that he expected!
Or blocked in by cars to the front and rear in a Mexican standoff
Lets just hope the emergency services don’t need to get down the road you’ll be blocking!

Quite easy, they bring/collect it to/from where I park, or they are stuck with or without their goods. I’m a retained firefighter and if something was blocking me on blues and twos, you’d be getting a visit from the old bill and putting in an appearance at a coroners enquiry to explain your actions
In our chilled days I had a drop on I think it was radford road ,nottslittle foreign shop ,I had to pull up onto kerb to allow enough room for vehicles to pass,I got there early one day ,started to handball load off( few palls worth) ,next thing I knew I turned round to see 2 coppers there ,jumped up little hitler asked me what I was doing and was I aware there was a time limit on loading ,unloading ,said it was my first time there and with all the traffic ,looking for the little shop I’d missed the sign with time limit on it officer
,his mate though knew better and said I’ve heard all the stories from drivers before
,told me next time I was getting a ticket ,and to get a move on .
Next day I was back the samevtime ,I was on a salary ,job and finish ,I wasn’t parking up until time limit allowed me to tip ,kept my eye up thevroad for them though

Why will you block the street as there’s parking down both sides you could use? Are you in an artic or a rigid? If it’s the latter can’t see any problem especially if you ring the customer and ask them if they can arrange for a space to be reserved.26 tonne rigid.
Pics please.
What is it and how big is the engine?
You should be ok as the local Authority is Wandsworth and their wardens tend to be more human, if it was proper Clapham eg Lambeth then you’d probably get a ticket.
If you’re heading North along Trinity Road, there’s no right turn at Nightingale Lane, there’s a diversion around the back through Nottingham Road / St James Drive which is quite tight for a truck but doable.
That’s in the heart of Nappy Valley so plenty of yummy mummies to check out but in return lots of 4x4 drivers who can’t drive
I would agree that blocking a road for an hour is a bit much. I would expect the shopkeeper to block a few off so that you can get parked to do the delivery. Don’t mind doing it if it’s only for a few minutes. Unless its a dead end street, there’s always another way into the street that you’re blocking, which most people will do without any fuss, but there’s always one sad sack that comes up to protest. I just tell them the longer you stand here and argue with me, the longer I’ll be blocking the road.
If you are responsible for any parking tickets, then I certainly wouldn’t be blocking any roads. We’ve got to pay for our parking tickets too, but our ops manager will tell you to pay it as quickly as possible and he’ll put a few hours OT in our wages to cover it. I got a ticket once and he kept his word.
Well I made it, turns out it was on the main road, not up the side street but I had to parrall park which was fun… Wasn’t there that long as it wasn’t a very big pallet. I didn’t make it easier for myself though. Went right through central London as the A4 was closed! Plus I then had a drop in Croydon which was horrible! Thursday last week reminded me just why I hate driving in London.
I had to block a road in Dunoon last week while moving someone in, locals complained, old bill turned up and threatened to arrest me if I didn’t move it to let people past, it’s illegal to block a road apparently

I’ve had drops do that & be told by passing wardens/plod that it’s illegal to reserve parking spaces & to cease doing so.
Theres a Tesco Express in St Helens where cages often have to be dragged 100 yards down the road because parking outside the shop is just never possible. A few anti-Tesco residents allegedly park there all day on purpose.
