Quick, fill up the car!
Fuel protesters are staging a go-slow on major routes towards Cheshire’s Stanlow oil refinery, where they plan to impose a blockade.
The M56, M62 and M6 in Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Staffordshire are affected along with the A55 in north Wales and the A5 in Shropshire.
About 600 lorry drivers, farmers and bikers are joining 20mph convoys.
Organiser Ian Charlesworth said their aim was to get the government to reduce fuel tax duty by 24p a litre.
The Stanlow Fuel Protest and Direct Action Group, which recruited supporters through Facebook, said it intended to block the Ellesmere Port refinery’s exits.

“About 150 vehicles have arrived at the plant and failed to stop two tankers from entering.”
Well, that worked well then, didn’t it??
Are blockades not now illegal, im sure they whip up some terrorism charge now.
To be honest who care’s the majority of the population of this country suffers from too much apathy as it is so we might as well just roll over now and vote in a dictatorship. As for protesting about it. ■■■■■■■ into a hurricane springs to mind. It will never work blockading the refinery’s as support for the protesters would run out approximately 72 hours after the fuel runs out. Then the popular vote would be drag you out the way and to get on with your jobs. Your better off waiting for the military to get fed up with the situation and start their coup.
these people doing these havent got a clue…theyve used all that fuel driving to llandudno from queensferry then back to stanlow/eastham

They certainly weren’t at Eastham… if they don’t even know themselves where they are, how are they expecting to get any credibility? These chaps aren’t exactly another Brynle Williams, are they?
A spokesman for Shell, which runs Stanlow, said the site had not been blockaded by the demonstrators. He added: “The protest today has had no effect on operations.”

Eastham Oil Terminal does black oil and it wouldn’t matter how many Nynas tankers you hold up

The last time I drove down Oil Sites Road there were new security gates and barriers which were often closed to stop the road being used as a shortcut, it would also prevent a few motorbikes and a couple of dozen cars blocking the road.
From a planned thousands of protestors to 600 which may have been 150 which is now reported to be 120 vehicles. There were more people came through our village on Sunday to get an ice cream cone
