just made me laugh seeing this thread revived as I had a mare today trying to blind side into a slot at Doncaster Services… By the time I’d finished the cue was backing up the M180 and M18!! Managed to get it straight eventually…had to use a 10 hour drive though.
Best way to learn is with people watching,if you get close enough to hitting something some one will help,if in doubt ask for help no shame in it in fact the opposite,
Was at Knutsford south last week guy was struggling to park jumped out and watched him back no matter how long you have been driving some days it just won’t go lol,all done it lol then sat in the cab like a beetroot
Sometimes I used to dread this kind of situation - Trowell services at peak parking periods - loaded with 2 x 28 foot by 10 wide static caravans using wagon and drag (trailer not always underslung therefore greater chance of split load meeting when manouvering) - lots of getting out of the vehicle to check where you’re going…it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks…the main thing is not to hit anything/anyone. There are no prizes for doing it in a oner.
Me messing up this simple reverse.

Aye, made worse by them doing building work on the high street.
NewbieNeil:
I suppose what I’m trying to say to my fellow newbie class 1 drivers is, don’t be daunted by it like I was, nobody gives a monkey’s… Not a single driver glanced up from his newspaper. …
exactly,it was you at the time, who was the only one knew you are new licence holder. Besides, the Examiner who passed you,had took on board that you are capable of meeting DSA standards
NewbieNeil:
I was rather hoping for a round of applause
I hope you were ready to take a bow
