Bleach of Lavant

as you may know i have recently lost my job at maritime due to the loss of some contracts

does anyone know what they are like to work for and what the money is like? thinking of ringing them but not too sure.

any ideas■■?

Can’t help on what there like to work for, they seem to have plenty of work as there always about. If your going to get knocked down by a lorry in the Chichester area, it will be a Bleach or a Dudmans there are that many of then about. Give them a ring they can only say yes or no, good luck with it hope you find something soon.

Thought u were working for paul matthews ? what happened there then mate?

i left there back in may last year, well, i got pushed cos i had a smash on teh a38 down in plymouth

then went to ak in liphook doing the continent and just didnt like it cos i couldnt stay wake long enough

then went towork for maritime and got the shove from them last saturday as they had lost a few contracts so me and 11 others got made redundant

Sorry to hear that lee, were u based in marchwood or milbrook (i take it u were based in southampton).
Funny enough i tried giving Alan knight a ring the other day to see if they had any jobs, i take it u wouldn’t give them a thumbs up then ? lol
i do see bleech of lavant vehicles all over the place but couldn;t tell you anything about them? You thought about Philsons Haulage?

Bleach don’t pay great, but who does these days. The flowers will be starting soon so they may be looking for drivers, only this tends to be seasonal. They also run a Palletforce area. Was a oldish fleet but have got some new wagons of late. Not too sure of anymore.

yeah, i was based at marchwood, and would go back given the chance (hopefully)

to be honest mate, alan knight was ok to work for and the other lads that woked there were as good a bunch of fella’s as you could wish for at a firm, i was just getting less and less work each week (cos there was less about) and as he paid us a low basic but a decent percentage of what the truck earnt my money was getting less. the hours were very long but nothing illegal, you were doing max hours every single day you worked and there was a hell of a lot of driving, not your normal days driving like most of us are used to, its the only firm where i have reached my 90 hours in a fortnight twice within 6 weeks.

and yeah i had thought of philsons and thats as far as it went after speaking a few close friends and seeing as ak does some of thier loads i wouldnt want to do it all the time!

I’m amazed Maritime have lost a few contracts? They have been looking for drivers consistently for some time and with the new distribution tautliner operation starting soon, it does surprise me that you were let go.

Wait a minute don’t they employ loads of subbies? Why wasn’t a subbie let go rather than one of their own drivers?

Once again an example of the rate container firms pay subbies is far cheaper than they can do it themselves. :unamused:

that was our thoughts as well, but then again they are getting rid of a load of wagons and the replacements are going to take a while so now they have more bums than seats.

but then again did they take us on just for the xmas rush■■?/
