Just thought I’d put this one out there as I’m thinking of taking it further but just wondered if anyone can advise/ has experienced similar issues.
Basically I drive for the in- house agency of a Tesco distribution centre. I left a permanent job in order to get into Tesco permanently as, unless they are desperate, the agency route is the only way in. Been here 4 months now with no infringements, accidents, good score etc, no late abd haven’t gone sick etc etc. Recently they put 6 permanent jobs on Indeed so I, along with a number of other white British drivers applied. Long story short, everyone from minority races have been offered interviews - even a black mate of mine who works for a completely different company. Myself and the other Caucasian Brits have just been completely ignored - no interview, nothing.
I understand that Tesco have targets to hit if they are deemed - by some organisation (of which i would love to know who/ what this is?) To be lacking in drivers from minority groups and therefore unless they are desperate just blatantly discriminate against Caucasian male brits.
I don’t to go down the discrimination in the work place route, I just want to find out who is behind all this BS and maybe i dunno so something about it.
dont worry you will be asked to train them in a few weeks.
the trouble is if they are imports tesco can get away with all sorts of fiddles from paying less ni and tax and paying the drivers less. this isnt tescos fault its the governments
I’ve no idea how Tesco operate but I imagine that like many large companies they may adhere to this DEI bullcrap, so possibly need to make up their foreign quota.
Apparently In this modern world every company needs to employ their quota of black brown gay or transgender people so they won’t be seen as discriminating against minority groups, we white straight Brits are not a minority so we don’t matter
On the other hand it could just be that you’re wrong or just not suitable
So what’s new?
Tokenism and diversity rule the roost in Labour’s Britain.
As an ex employer I would not hesitate to employ a driver from any ethnic minority if he was suitable for the job…
I know it’s the norm nowadays, but I had a girl driving for me 30+ years ago…because she was a good driver, despite accusations of ‘special favours’ from guys I turned away.
Employing people BECAUSE they are a certain ethnicity or group is something else, also an insult to the driver involved.
Also some may go straight back to RDC instead of snoozing in a lay by just before Milton interchange on the A34 hanging the jon=b out so they don’t get a second run
