Blame Friday 13th

So whos’ day didn’t go according to plan?
My loading shovel broke down this morning with an transmission oil leak, thus I became the driver of an ageing Volvo dumptruck that leaks water into the footwell when the aircon is on… Then part of our washing plant broke down and the Environment Agency got upset because they found tarmac in the tip.
Oh, and my 15 month old would rather sing to his cuddly tkys than go to sleep…

I got to the depot at 06:45 to leave for 07:00 with a 10:00 delivery slot to find a flat middle tyre on my trailer, 3 hours to get it fixed, got to delivery piont and most had gone ho,e so had to handball a full trailer between three of us,

Good Day

Madguy :smiling_imp:

Broke my wrist yesterday, going in for an op on Sunday morning to have a plate put in so that’s six weeks out for me. I know it was Thursday the 12th but its close enough :frowning:

7am start. 1st tip off by 7.35. Broke down 7.45 as just leaving ind est. Auto gearbox packed in, merc came out to me by 9 am.

Plugged in diagnostic, nothing could be done roadside so had to wait for recovery. Told by office to tip my 13plt with tail lift as one of other lads coming to take few dels off me and rest be going on hire wagon they were sorting me out with.

Recovery arrived at 11.30 along with my lovely battered 54 plate 7.5t daf! Be last time ill be cursing my axor (ok maybe not!)

In end worked out ok. Loaded up and away by 12, most jobs taken off me. Just ended up with Sherburn Elmet, Pickering, Flamingo land and Full Sutton. Back in yard by 17.55. Result!

and you put a k instead of an o for toys not been your day at all mate

Been a good day for me, I wasnt working today

My son tipped at Chinley, Chapel-en-le-Frith and then empty to Hull. Rang me for advice on route and as I didn’t have a map to hand and its a few years since I went down that way I said look at map and make your own mind up re over moors to Chesterfield or back to M62. He chose M62 and sat for nearly 3 hours in stionary traffic at Leeds. DOH !!!

Got the call on Thursday 2pm that my Friday shift (Midnight to 2pm) had been shelved but I was still required next week. Checking my hours decided that having done 48 hours already this week I would have Friday off anyway and then the agy rang back up and when pointing out my hours were 58 last week and 48 this week I’d have the day off. All sorts of queries about why I wasn’t doing POA and stuff to enable me to work more.

I asked how I could get POA on a day when it was a 12hr day with 9hrs solid driving, 2hrs loading unloading and 45m break, and the loading unloading was just that. I was not hanging around and my hours could all back me up. They still had a moan saying I had more capacity for work. I asked if it fitted in with my current duties of midnight to PM and they went strangely quiet. Seems it was a 10am to 10pm duty. I was polite and said I’d be dozing off by 5pm at which point they said they’d ‘let me’ have the day off. :unamused: :open_mouth:    I thanked them for their kindness in the matter and reminded them that it was my choice afterall. It was offered to remove me off the contract next week that I was on, but I reminded them that that might not work as the client did actually not have a problem with me, despite earlier ‘attempts’ by them…

So, still trying to stay acclimatised for these hours

Had a drop at Morrisons Gadbrook RDC, 4 hours wait to tip then 2 hours to tip, was not a happy boy. Wasn’t just me either.

It’s times like that when you just know you could have unloaded it quicker yourself than rely on the warehouse staff to do it.

Is it just that they don’t employ enough staff or are just not efficient or just don’t care?

Hiya  yeah bloody 13th…ive ripped my airlines. Forgot to disconect them. Oops. Good thing that it has happened in the yard. So it wasnt that bad but still i blame the FRIDAY 13th. have a nice day

Well I had the brakes lock on one of the wheels on the rear axle of the road barrel I was using, this was after I spent 2 extra hours on delivery point due to not being told what equipment I would need at this offload so enjoyed the task of adapting and overcoming!

Coming back up the M4 near Reading had a boy racer blow his engine in front of me so at least my day was narrowly better!
