Black never heard that term!

One of the old hands in the yard got a bit of a slating because he’d never heard of the term black when coupling and now the training company’s use BLACK NB!

Time to hang up his keys or just shows how little training us drivers get?   :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Never heard this before.what does it mean?

maestegboy:
. . . he’d never heard of the term black when coupling.

Probably because black is used when UNcoupling not coupling.

BRAKE
LEGS
AIR
COUPLING
KNUMBER PLATE. (silent & invisible K)
.
.

UNCOUPLE = BLACK forwards
Brake
Legs
Air lines etc
Clip
Kingpin

COUPLE UP = BLACK backwards
Kingpin
Clip
Air lines etc
Legs
Brake

.
.
We couple up with CAL PIB:

Coupling
Air
Legs

Plate
Illuminations
Brake
.
.

ROG:
COUPLE UP = BLACK backwards
Kingpin
Clip
Air lines etc
Legs
Brake

.
.
So that’s why so many trailers run around with no number plate !

I’d say neither, I’d never heard of BLACK until I came to TN but I’ve never had a problem coupling or uncoupling.

It’s a good idea to have a system but it doesn’t have to be someone else’s system

So true

It is generally training companies that assist trainees in remembering what to do that use things like this

What about suspension??

That’s only happens to you when you drop the ■■■■ trailer on its knees.

Probably “sacking” is a more appropriate word.

This ^

Never heard of it myself. Dropped and picked up 1000s of trailers only one incident when i forgot to disconnect the hydraulic line. Friday evening in the rain and the pub was calling.
However i hang my head in shame for not knowing this.
No doubt the drivrr cpc will eradicate this along with bridge strikes and blindly following sat navs down bridleways.

That’s why Professional Drivers use B L A C K to drop a trailer.

I worked in a busy traffic office of a successful business and I had never used, heard of or understood a KPI. It didn’t stop Brian Harris or Robsons of Carlisle either. Modern logistic companies cannot function without at least 3 whiteboards.
