Seems frankly crazing for a currency that is barely used for trading but mainly for speculation.
For those who dont know. Bitcoins are made through Bitcoin mining. Which requires you to have a high end computer that is running mining software. This mining software is very demanding in terms of power use.
Also why are ‘green’ companies investing in a currency that is so damaging to the environment?
Not only this but bitcoin mining is contributing to the semi conductor shortage.
Also computer computers are sky rocketting as bitcoin mining requires high end computer components to work. For example, a RTX 3080 graphics card is supposed to cost about £800. Yet there is such a shortage of them due to mining they are listing on eBay for like £2000.
Hence why the majority of Bitcoin mining is carried out in Norway with an abundance of cheap(er) electricity and also a cold climate to help in cooling the vast warehouses of computers.

You know… Where they still use coal power stations. 
Then you also have the tens of thousands of people doing it in there basements.
I remember 20 years ago when loads of us signed up for SETI@Home and started using “spare” processing power in our home computers to analyse data from radio telescopes and search for that elusive evidence of Extra Terrestrial Intelligence.

Ye, I did that or I think I did it for mapping the sky.
Some people still do it. A lot more worthwhile then making pretend money.
