Bit of advice needed on job situation

Hi guys just wondered if i could get some advice on gaining more experience/new job but atm i’m in a bit of sticky position, will try to explain as best i can so here goes…
Basically iv’e been working for the MOD since 2008 passed C+E 3 years ago and really took to it also got full adr packages and all classes plus tanks. trouble is i hardly do any driving at all on the road not drove an arctic since i passed my test, im basically (on occasion) pulling a glider trailer with a 7.5t or driving the tankers to refuel the odd light aircraft, the rest of the time im confined to camp driving vans or land rovers and hate it! Being MOD they dont require cpc so ive done mods 2 and 4 in my own time as well as done 7hrs on drivers hours and tachos just to get a grip on the regs. Signd up with one agency in my area (Mansfield) to hope and get some odd weekend shifts (this is where the trouble starts) though im exempt from driving hours for mod surely i still come under them if i drive seperatly at weekend so correct me if im wrong but i think i worked it out that i can only do a day every other week?(my normal working hours are mon-fri 37hrs) been signd up with agency for a month and not heard squat, although my current job is crap money and the place is ran by idiots (can you tell im desperate to leave!)its secure so i cant just jump ship and try luck on angencies and hope to get work with a mortgage and family to pay for! so just wondered if anybody had any advice or ideas? thanks for taking the time to read this if you made it to the end sorry to bore everybody! any help greatly apreciated.

You need 35 hours dcpc to drive commercially

i thought cos im classed as a new driver only did my mod 4 in december that i had 5 years to do 35 hours?

If you already have your license then you shouldn’t of been made to do Mod 2 and 4.

Did you receive your dcpc card after doing mod 4? What’s the expiry date

expired 02/12/2019 mate

If you passed your car licence before '97 then you wouldn’t have needed to do your mod 2 & 4. After '97 I am not sure as I passed before '97.

As of last September 9th you need your dcpc all 35 hours like previously mentioned in order to drive professional.

You don’t have to limit yourself to one agency so sign up with more agencies is the obvious advice to give, the more agencies you register with the more chance you have of getting work.

You say you normally do 37 hours from Monday to Friday, without knowing what time you finish on Friday and start again on Monday it’s not possible to say how often you could do additional HGV work but it’s likely to be one day every second week.

Just to clarify things, you’ve done mods 2 and 4 and have a DQC until 2019 so that’s all you need as far as the DCPC is concerned, well until 2019 anyway

edit: When registering with agencies don’t limit yourself to cat C+E work, be prepared to do whatever HGV driving work they offer you, the object of the exercise is to get a foot in the door

thanks alot for the reply tachograph, i do mon-thurs 8:15 to 16:45 and fri 8:15 to 16:15. so with the rests i think its one day every second week as you say, gonna look up a few more agencies i think, might even put a cheeky days leave in next week and just go knocking on doors got to get out of the MOD circus the only part of the job i enjoy is when im out on the road, loved being in the arctic when i did my training! thanks again for the help.
