Thought this chap was going to lose it
Don’t know what i’m doing wrong with the link!!!
I’d just joined the 42 from the M5 southbound, he was crawling along in the centre lane, i think it scared him a bit but he did pull in to the left just afterwards!
the Landrover on the trailer was loaded to the roff inside with spare parts, i think he’d got a bit too much weight up high!
If he’d panicked and stabbed the brake probably would have lost it.
Too much weight behind the axle centrepoint and not enough on the coupling. Same instability can happen with any trailers even semis.
Discovery 4 has some clever computer gubbins that detects and counteracts snaking.
As long as the tow vehicle’s rear axle is on air I’d rather go heavy on the nose than risk it snaking. Only downside is a bit more understeer then.

tell me about it! I’ve got a moffet on the back of my trailer and a tag axle unit, that can be very hairy when it’s empty!
They usually put enough ballast on the headboard that they’re ok-ish dry I’ve always found them very hairy if it’s greasy wet.
