Birds is not owned by montgomeries. It is owned by the company that also owns montys.

true but there wll be plenty of input from monty’s other wise they would be competing against each other

No more than birds will have in monty’s operation

Technically correct, but as far as I know McLellands started Montgomery transport with 1 truck and it was the first company under the Ballyvesey Holdings banner.

I’ve been waiting for this to come up. Was told about it from a usually reliable source exactly a week before bigtruck posted. I couldn’t post at the time as it was then only gossip.

I contacted Luke V thru’ Facebook to ask him if he would kindly ask his traffic office if they’d heard anything, but a week later I haven’t heard back from Luke on the subject. (I understand he had got rather behind with his messages etc. due to the recent sad family events …and quite understandably too).

So thanks for posting bigtruck.

No probs I’d heard it too but didn’t post until there was an official statement.

Think you’ll find that monty’s is the bigger setup and so probably have more of a say also not sure of bird’s wages but bet they are higher than monty’s so you’ll probably see them equalled in a downward manner too!

…just out of interest what would a company like birds cost to purchase, they’ve been around a long time.

That would depend on how much the company is worth; about £8.5million in this instance. However, a quick look at the accounts they’ve filed over the last few years and the phrase “sinking ship” springs to mind. I’m sure this would have been taken into consideration when an offer was made.

you are quite right regarding the accounts etc, but it is easy to stem the loss, Admin Management levels can go as they have there own, sell off the birmingham yard and use the one they own etc that will cut losses.

Often drive past the Bird’s Birmingham depot, always wondered how they stay in business… every time I drive past the yard is full of trailers, and a large number of units parked up as well. Units & trailers parked in the yard don’t make any money.

I thought that too.
