Bionic Bubbles.

boris:
Plastic pig = noisy, cold/draughty, prob no power steering ,crash box & are ERF still here? :unamused:
Volvo = quiet ,radio ,good heater ,power steering ,synchro box & how are Volvo doing?

So please help …why ERF?

As with most motors of the 70’s radios and heaters were an option, although synchro boxes have been around a long time now, they are still slow to change in comparison.

Just noticed the accessory list, an 8 track player & MW radio :stuck_out_tongue:

Bring back 8 tracks

I don’t remember the name Gordon Tune but in general registration *FU was from John Hebb in Lincolnshire and *BT was from Crossroads Commercials on Valletta street.

I think the two I J Blakey motors were probably on the Lord mayors Parade in Hull. King Edwards Street and or Prospect Street

Heres one of Amesbury Transports F86’S

Tim

I remember when my dad got his first 86. I thought it was the bee’s knees compared with the Mandator he had before.
Anyway, heres a few for you from my brochure collection.

Same as you Gb1 (about my dad) , but unlike yourself   I was gutted when he got an 86 , it wasn’t a proper lorry! the engine didnt make a lorry noise like an AEC & i always liked windscreen wipers that were on top of the screen ,…well i was only 8 years old  but he didn’t have it long - an 88’ 290 came shortly after that

I know what you mean. The 86 was “rather nice” compared with anything before it. His first 86 was on a J plate, which would have made me 9 at the time.

Not 100% sure, but think this is the original interior. Bubbs?

Hi gb1,mines on a “J” plate 1970 and its identical to mine…well better condition as well :unamused:

Bubbs,

This is one you see quite regular at shows and also around the Oldham area collecting trailers that have been out on hire from Howarths.A cracking little motor.

I know a man who has one for sale ripe for restoration, little bit of cab rust needs dealing with but not too bad, 4x2 tractor unit, pm me if your interested and I’ll pass the details on.

This is my dads old F86, he had just bought it off RC Lilley from Ramsey St Marys who had just packed up in about 1982/83. It replaced the old D series parked next to it.
After spending all my school holidays in the old Ford it was a completely different class, I loved it.

Here another taken the same day

I reckon that’s an ex Peterborough Heavy Haulage motor.
PHH kept with black and silver number-plates long after the change to black and white ones.

I reckon you could be right with PFL being a Peterborough registration. DVLA doesn’t show how many owners on a web search.

The enquiry is complete
The vehicle details for PFL 651R are:

There`s a 6 wheeler rigid flat 86 rotting away in a yard at Leeds i pass every day ,think its a “N” reg
