SICK BARSTEARD

bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-30585301

He’ll be some dog rough spotty faced scrote who locks himself away in his room, has teddy bears for friends and who knocks one off watching Animal Farm.
Wouldn’t last 5 mins out on the streets but yet takes sanctuary and safety from behind a computer screen in his room. Hopefully when his picture is taken off him going to the cop shop someone will recognise him and his next trip will be the intensive care unit off the local hospital.

It is in very bad taste, there are more details of what he actually wrote here. eveningtimes.co.uk/news/u/te … 1419340371 Not entirely sure whether it should be a police matter though.

The two crew didn’t get out until the vehicle had stopped according to what Ive read.

Like its been said above, its very easy as a professional driver to sit at a keyboard and say “I’d have done this and that”.

Exactly. We’ve had posts on here in the past on threads discussing accidents where people claim that in the event of an accident where they were going to rear end something they would leap from the driver’s seat onto the bunk!! They clearly have never been in an accident because they wouldn’t, it all happens to fast.

Surely our generation would be “grabbing the wheel” - from any other seat, qualified driver or no.

Who, among us, would not “from the passenger side” just brace yourself, and pull on the handbrake? :frowning:

A dreadful chain of cascading “what if” events. RIP to all at this sad time. :frowning:

Hi Winseer

and pull on the handbrake?

Some people would not know where the hand brake was in a car/truck/bus. They wouldn’t know where to look even if they were not ■■■■■■■■ their pants at the time.

Is it fact that there were others in the cab? The reason I ask is the lorry had trade lifts fitted to the back and a lot of companies operate these as one man rounds. Also where I work most of the loaders don’t drive and we have about 50% agency staff who struggle to put one foot in front of the other let alone know how a bin lorry is operated. Thoughts are with the family, driver and everyone affected

It was just a thought. It’s easy saying stuff Sat here and another if you were in that situation. Very sad day

As I feel a bit uncomfortable speculating while this event is still so raw and without stating the bleedin obvious again about how easy it is to do from the comfort of ones truck I shall await the facts as they come to light.

My thoughts for now are with the families and friends in this sad time.

agreed DD. I shall await the news.

A bit too soon to be cracking jokes about it… but that’s all it was; a joke.

I don’t like the way things are going with all this getting arrested for saying something on Twitter business. Very worrying indeed. :open_mouth:

The people on this thread who think he should be put in intensive care or the morgue are far worse and much more deserving of police attention IMO.

They must spend a lot of time in the cab going about their daily tasks surely they would have seen the driver apply the handbrake on many occasions.

As this is a direct quote from the Glasgow Evening Times, I hope the rozzers won’t be banging on my door tomorrow.

He is alleged to have written: “So a bin lorry has crashed into 100 people in Glasgow eh, probably the most trash its ever picked up in one day that.”

Northumbria Police said he was arrested on suspicion of making a malicious communication and had been bailed while they made further inquiries into the incident.

Surely Northumbria Police should be devoting their time to real criminals? People who burgle houses, syphon off our diesel, ■■■■■ our curtains in the middle of the night? Gallows Humour has been around for thousands of years and while some may find it distasteful, I really do not think the Police should be wasting taxpayers’ money investigating a silly teenager’s tweet.

If they are like our local bin men then the crew walk behind the lorry collecting and replacing the bins until it is ready to head off to the landfill site. Even then some stay behind and wait until he returns (usually a couple of hours) as in summer I used to supply them with cool drinks while they waited!

Pete.

Of course it shouldn’t. What a ridiculous society we now seem to live in … There’s no question that it’s a terrible thing to have happened, but that’s exactly the way Brits have been reacting to tragedies for generations. Anyone else remember the Challenger space shuttle jokes? Or the Herald of Free Enterprise jokes? It’s only the same thing, but on Twitter, and with our po-faced society overreacting to it afterwards.

The people who think the crew could have got to the handbrake do not know anything about the design of a crew cab, the crew are not sat at the side of the driver they are sat behind him with a safety bar to prevent them being thrown out of the cab and also would probably been wearing seatbelts so the chance of them being able to reach the handbrake to do anything is very small a
my deepest sympathy to all the people involved in this tragic accident

^This.

I have sympathy with people receiving malicious death threats on social media, or young vulnerable people being victims of persistent bullying. However it’s bloody ludicrous that people feel it’s appropriate to cry to the police when they see something they find offensive on Twitter, never mind the police actually spending time tracking down some youth in his bedroom, arresting him and landing him with a criminal record which is likely to leave him a burden to the state in future… for cracking a joke :open_mouth: :unamused:

It was probably just copied and pasted off Sickipedia anyway. sickipedia.org/

the crew was seen jumping from the bin lorry and holding there hands in there head in disbelief was the quote on the bbc

What a shocking tragedy, greatest sympathy to all those involved & affected , it’s just so terribly awful. My heart goes out to all those involved.

R.I.P. our thoughts and prayers go out to all the unfortunate victims of this awful tragedy , and to their families and friends, and to all those who helped at the scene.
