I had a txt this morning from Biggles to say he stayed at the Hotel National in Belgrade on Sunday night, though he was the only truck there.
And he didn’t say if he saw George
Biggles (Steve) is now driving for a Danish company running to the Balkans,Greece and Turkey.
He loaded last week in Copenhagen for Yugoslavia and Bulgaria and I have instructed him to keep a diary and take loads of pics.
Should make interesting reading when (and if) he gets home and has time to post them.
Marcus, are you aware a new highway has very recently been completed in the montenegro direction? I’m not (yet) familiar with this area, but may be able to dig up a bit more info if u require it.

More commonly known as an ECMT Book in the UK. The following explains a little about them.
ECMT Permits
These are known as multilateral permits as they authorise travel throughout the states represented at the European Conference of Ministers of Transport. In addition to the EU Member States, these are:
Albania
Armenia
Azerbaijan
Belarus
Bosnia-Herzegovina
Bulgaria
Croatia
FYR Macedonia
Georgia
Liechtenstein
Moldova
Norway
Romania
Russian Federation
Serbia and Montenegro
Switzerland
Turkey
Ukraine
While wide-ranging, the quota of available permits in the UK is limited. A permit is valid for a calendar year and is not journey or vehicle specific. It is for hire and reward operations only and may not be temporarily transferred between operators.
ECMT permits can be advantageous when dealing with “third country” movements which might be precluded by a bilateral agreement. They cannot be used for cabotage or transit through an ECMT state if the destination is non-ECMT. They cannot be used for unaccompanied trailers or semi-trailers.
I used to use one a couple or three years ago for loading in Germany and delivering in Switzerland.
At home for a week while i go to London and get my visa from the Turkish consulate. Will try and put some picture up once i figure out how to do it that is. Ran down to the Serbian border a few weeks ago with some guys from another Danish company, they mainly do diplomatic cargo, got talking to one of them over a few beers in the europark at Teplice he was telling me they are now going into the ‘safe zone’ at Zaco only problem is after unloading its taking about 8 days to get out of Iraq empty.
