Big thanks to Tony from Dowse Haulage

I would like to thank a driver called Tony who drives a 61 plate Volvo for Dowse Haulage,
I have only been on powder tanks for about a month and last night I was trying to blow unmilled Anhydrate off at Tarmac,Alfreton and I blew two pots off and the front pot had blocked the pipe solid and I was in a right mess,Had no clue how to sort it out,
Tony who I’d never met before saw I was scathing my head and spent well over an hour showing me how to ■■■■ product back into the tank and unblocking the pipes.
He had finished his tank and could have been parked up outside minding his own business but I’m so gratefull for his help and advice and can’t thank him enough.
He is a credit to Dowse Haulage and the transport industry,Cheers Tony ))

I’ve met some snide people in my time- mostly on TruckNet, I’d have to say- but I’ve also met a few “Tony’s” in my time and even 25 years later I still remember their help and advice with gratitude.

Diamond.

It can be a royal PITA if you get a blockage blowing powder and can be daunting trying to ■■■■ product back into your tanker if you are new . I know Tony and next time I see him I’ll point him this way .

Thanks Shade,
Tell him I am the lad off N S Clarkes that was going to set fire to the lot if he had not helped me,He spent a further hour outside giving me advice on this tanker job when I parked up with him,He’s a proper gentleman and I learned a few valuable lessons that night,Very gratefull to him indeed ))

its always a good feeling when you help someone out, there was a film once called “pay it forward” if i remember correctly, it was based around helping others, if someone does you a favour then you make sure you do someone else one and so on and so forth. i’ve lost count of the amount of times i’ve cost myself loads of time helping people, but like i say its nice to know you’ve helped (or tried in some cases!)

Nice to read when drivers do actually help each other out, Give goss a poke when you see him,he’s got tattoos on his neck, assuming he’s still on the tanks at Clarkes. My alter ego is Pilksflyer

Yeah Goss is still here,“Livin the dream” he keeps saying ))

True gent nice to know there’s still some left!

Time and time again I,ve seen drivers getting into trouble at ASDA/Chepstow, and other drivers just watching.(Very ight bays to get into in their waiting area, especially if its piddling down at night etc)

Me, I get out and try and act as a banksman, the poor sods are so, so grateful.

Forklift driver reckons theres a accident every week, and some firms refuse to use the bays in the holding/waiting area.

Tony is a friend of mine he lives locally to me will pass on your thanks

Thanks JJ192, I won’t ask his second name on here but if he’s on Facetube can you ask him to look me up, I’m ‘Rich Beastie Beeson’,it would be great to keep in touch with him,Cheers

Beastie think youll find that most powder tank drivers will help each other out if they see someone struggling. Actually it would take a proper knob not too.Must admit although ive never had the pleasure of unmilled they reckon it`s one of the worst things ever invented for a powder tank.
Been doing it for 14 years now and am still picking things up.

Oh mate it was a proper nightmare,Apparently is all shapes and sizes and locks together so hopefully won’t be doing any more for a while,I am really enjoying the powder job and your right,Most other tanker men put their hand up and do actually speak when you see them out of the cab,I’ve come off the tippers at Clarky’s because I don’t want to keep sitting with 40 other trucks waiting to tip/load and earning no money and everyone is fed up and moaning about the job and would run you over to get in front of ya !!
