So the likes of astran, whittles, Ralph davis, David croome, Davis turner, peter gilder still sending them out iI know I may have forgot some firms and my apologies for that. There was plenty at one point western doçk used to see plenty of them!!!
If you watch the news you can probably answer that for yourself! To get to the Arabian Gulf you either have to transit Iraq, Syria, Israel, or Egypt (Sinai), all of which are currently disaster areas for commercial transit. Even Turkey is becoming embroiled in the troubles. In other directions there’s Iran which is under embargoes, Pakistan which is far less stable then before, Russia which is at odds with the rest of Europe. North Africa stopped for Brits some time ago, bar the odd lorry as far as I know. I’m not stating this as fact, and someone on here will know for sure, but I’ll bet no UK lorries go further than Turkey at this point in time. Robert

They used to run the gauntlet by simply running uninsured through the danger zones. But UK trucks were not such a target in earlier conflicts in the M/E. They would be now. Trade is a collidescope: the mosaic will change pattern, a new route will appear and our trucks will be off again pushing new boundaries - but not yet! Robert

Ask most Brits over here about the food and they’ll agree, it’s slops, most of the ones I know seldom eat in truckstops and have found an assortment of alternative eateries, mostly ethnic, chinky and other oriental places, Indian, Mexican etc, but I know for a fact that each and everyone of us would swap a non essential body part for a good fry up from a British cafe or truckstop.
Bet someone could earn a mint if they set up a propper cafe over there hey but don’t they eat weird ■■■■ for breakfast tho ■■?
Just read on wittles web site Russia is open to transport again as they must have stopped so yes Robert you were rite . wouldn’t want to be out in Tajikistan and Russia pull the plug on transport again …
