i would rather have my superspace cf over the xf any day, i have 4/5 nights out a week and have done in some off the smallest cab poss like polypipes old motors axor an fm all basic low cab but still enough room to live. The problem i find with the big wendy houses like the man xxl is when parked up in a layby all it does is rock and sway all night makes me sea sick.

I never had a Space Cab, but had a couple of 2800s, even had a daycab one with a fold down bunk, now that’s a real man’s lorry
I currently drive a Peterbilt, the cab is the size of a Transit, although it’s still roomy enough, it’s got everything I need, a steering wheel, pedals, gearstick, a radio and a seat, the bunk is a seperate compartment behind the cab, it has a walk through between the seats, although I can’t stand upright (especially with my hat on Malc ) but once I’m in there I have all the room I need, either side of the cab there is a wardrobe, one side I use as a wardrobe, the other side has a mini bar type fridge and some drawers in, my Rice Krispies, Marmite and the rest of my swag live in these, above those is a 3ft square locker, one side is full of DVDs and books, the other side houses my microwave, then I have my bunks, the bottom one is a full single bed, the top one, which hinges along its centerline, is slightly narrower, it also has cubby holes all around the roof and enough underbunk storage to store a large suitcase. It’s a big space and it makes having nights out a hell of a lot easier than that old 2800 with the folding bunk I must say
Now having said that, I realise I’m totally spoilt, it would be very hard to go back to a European style cab, I did it for a week or two at the beginning of the year, I had an XL Globetrotter, it was very claustrophobic, I may have been able to jump up and down without banging my head, but the bunk is way too narrow, I kept smashing my face on the seat back (until I pushed it forward) my clothes were all creased up from being folded up in lockers, rather than hanging in a wardrobe and I still ended up with stuff on the top bunk.
It makes me wonder how we used to manage before the big cabs came out, I spent many years on the continent, away for up to 6wks at a time for the majority of it and we used to manage well enough, in fact I would go as far to say that the smaller cabs were responsible for making the old days better days, when we parked up, we were trapped in the driver’s seat or in the bunk, so instead of sitting in the cab watching a DVD and cooking dinner, we had to get out and socialise with our fellow drivers

Good point. I have never thought of it that way.

Now having said that, I realise I’m sounding like Scaryfast and apart from the image only being 4x2 and plastic, even more similar

Sort it out Malc, can’t have you coming down with Stockholm Syndrome
It’s not all about how BIG the cab is its what usable space in it.
1 week i had a man tgx xxl 480 next i had a scania highline 420 and the cab is alot smaller but the scania was alot better inside and i would pick a scania over a man anyday ps, the scania pulls like ■■■■
but the best one i found was the volvo fh13
get yourself in a car transporter for a week or two! spoilt nowadays! you were lucky to get a fl10 when i started, and that was on supermarket, general and all other types of work. tut tut.
