One idea would be to force all trucks / trailers to have scales on the axles then you’d know before going on the road. No idea how much they cost, but am surprised thry’ve not been made a requirement like all the other bits (AEBS, ABS, Euro 6 etc).
Is there a web site which gives all the public weighbridges around the UK and opening times? Running at night I doubt most are available and can only think of one local to our yard which is in a quary and thus closed.
As for these systems, theres one on the A1 near Markham Moor (Nottinghamshire) I know of although no idea if its used. Would be suspicious if they are totally accurate.
M60 - suspect there are a few inc one near the summit although some of those things are traffic volume sensors which look similar.
