Beware! Thieving Taliban!

Saturday morning 0300 I was on site not long arrived at Davis Turner Dartford. Just getting ready for bed and nipped to the loo. I was away two minutes from my cab. Just getting into my bed i notice my fuel card and digi card missing from the ashtray. I did think the place was camered up but nope, gates only covered. The place is swarming with Turks, Brits are very rare. I did think the Turks were ok but now I know different. Yes I will be locking my cab from now on.

It may have Turkish number plates on the trucks but the drivers could be from anywhere;Albania,Bulgaria,Kurdish,Moldavia and so on.
Could anyone have walked in to the DT yard unchallenged and saw you not locking the cab. ?

so, you left your cab unlocked, unattended with quite a number of people that you do not know?

at times like this, i bet you wish you had changed your sig

Yeh because it’s well known that ALL Turks are thieves, and that the “very rare Brits” present couldn’t possibly be the culprits, as again it’s well known that ALL Brits are impeccablly honest. :open_mouth:
:unamused: ffs!

 yeah i’am normally pretty trusting when im on site at an RDC taking the supposed security, fences and cameras for granted. Never really had anything nicked off me before.

I’m not talking about the general population. :unamused: I doubt many if any British lorrydrivers would be desperate enough to engage in petty theft off a fellow driver. Especially in a risky manner with high likelihood of getting caught.

Don’t get how you were robbed by the Taliban? Or are you insinuating that all Muslims non white or otherwise are insurgents? Remember also that some insurgents caught fighting in Afghanistan, were British!

You left your vehicle unsecured in a public place, and although theft is wrong you didn’t do anything to prevent it.

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: Are you REALLY that naive, or just having a laugh, I really would like to think the latter.

It wasn’t a public place but an international freight warehouse with supposed security clear for customs.

Taliban = eastern block lorrydriver.

Taliban is nickname for drivers from the East.I am not sure how it originated and why.
They are not the real Taliban.

hope you stopped the fuel card and reported it all to the police?

Firstly the meaning of the word Taliib is a religious scholar. They were the original insurgents in the current Afghan conflict (obviously there have been many). Secondly, Turkey is not in the eastern block ( does that term have any significance anymore).

While not looking for an argument, if your going to blame someone for the theft, probably best to get the basics right?

Yes there’s a 24hr number for keyfuels although you need a special pin to cancel so had to phone the boss. No doubt some Turks gonna be doing 24hr shifts with my digi card. A copper did turn up a couple of hours later, waste of time.

Taliban = smelly lorry driving person, dodgy haircut wearing flip flops with lidl bag. Turkey, at least a small part of it is in eastern Europe. :open_mouth:

Hard times for the Taliban it seems, from ruling Afghanistan to driving trucks.

I think your view that a customers premises would be safe is a bit misguided at best. I lock the truck whenever its out of my sight, no matter how long for. Some places even when I cam see it. My Dad had his cab turned over while shutting the trailer doors in the south of France once.

One hit to Istanbul driving all night on the nicked card, less chance of a pull then his card in the day.Boss will say,you are back early Sid.
I mus admit to not locking the cab.If allowed to stay in cab at Rdc’s and rest on the bunk.
If you have to stay in a waiting room then i lock it but many do not.I have the cab pilfered abroad and it is not a nice experience.

What, the Taliban are driving trucks in Afghanistan as well? :grimacing:

I give up!
